Effects of Covid-19
Covid-19 is a global pandemic robbing the world of its economy. Effects of covid -19 in the United States are so intense, and some are discussed in the paper. Firstly, the U.S. economy has drastically collapsed in the wake of Covid-19 following the directive that requires employees to work from home, which is challenging. Working from home hinders employees from exercising their full potential in the assigned tasks, which reduces the amount of revenue accrued by the various companies the employees work for. The importation and exportation of some goods, which are the economy’s backbone, has also been disrupted, leading to many individuals becoming jobless. Unemployment has the effect of reducing the amount of taxes, especially as the unemployed do not pay taxes, which is a major source of revenue for the government.
Lack of preparedness of the U.S. medical facilities has led to an alarming mortality rate of the citizens. An intense examination of the statistics of Covid-19 in the U.S. indicates that the numbers of individuals contracting the virus are overwhelming, making it difficult for the healthcare facilities to provide quality care to the patients. The inability to provide quality care to Covid-19 patients has led to high mortality rates in the U.S. and globally.
Additionally, Covid-19 has resulted in high unemployment rates in the U.S. Majority of the U.S. population are unauthorized workers who earn through working in the bars, eateries, and open-air markets, and with the closure of those facilities, they are forced to stay home with their families. Notably, such individuals find it difficult to provide basic needs to their loved ones.
