EMPOWERMENT OF THE NEW DEAL TO LABOR
New deal was a program by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to establish labor unions that were to govern financial regulation as well as monetary reforms and public work projects in the United States of America. The following took place from 1933 to 1939 after a great financial depression. The union had laws that were accented by both executive order and congress. Their main agendas were to cushion workers from the harsh economic time of unemployment, boost the weak economy, and preventive measures of the great depression.includes
The Creation of employment, improving labor standards and personal safety, and job security.
The Creation of employment played a critically significant role in the new deal. This was under the Civil Work Administration (CWA) of 1933 to 1934, underwork Progress Administration (WPA)1935 created over two million job opportunities. The economy had fallen drastically by 20% that lead to the closure of so many industries that employed its citizen. Many Americans could not meet basic needs. The new deal was to cushion unemployment.
There were improved labor standards by the unions (kirsch 2014), the new deal fought for the protection of overtimes while on duty and mostly was for the establishment of the minimum wage. The minimum salary ensured increment of fees across board hence creating a broader middle class that helped in the growth of the economy. The new deal made sure that there was equity in the union and non-union workers in wages and working conditions.
The union advocated for personal safety while at work and job security, in terms of working time it was 44hours a week been paid minimum wage of forty cents per hour this was under Fair Labor Act1938. They ensure the working area is safe for workers to work in and security for every worker in terms of jobs was adhered to.
The new deal played a significant role in empowering labor. It helped the workers to get both skillful and unskillful jobs, reduced the poverty gap, and created minimum wages to workers. The new deal’s impact is felt until now as it redirects the Americans to change the Acts.
