Environmental conservation
What I have learned this quarter has impacted me positively. It has expanded my knowledge concerning the environment and has also made me understand that human beings are doing a disservice to the environment; thus, there is a need to educate people to take the initiative of conserving the environment. To start with, I have learned that some human activities are causing species extinction. Human activities like deforestation and pollution destroy the natural habitat of some species, and this might result in the extinction of the endangered species. Similarly, I have learned that urbanization has brought more danger to the environment. For instance, it has led to environmental pollution, which puts the lives of species at risk and may lead to loss of biodiversity.
Also, I have learned that environmental conservation does not require complex skills. One must not necessarily be an expert for him/her to conserve the environment and make it safe for all species; rather, environmental conservation requires necessary simple actions. Besides, environmental conservation entails several initiatives, including volunteer schemes, which aim at educating people on the essence of conserving the environment as it is the home to biodiversity.
The point that environmental conservation does not require people to be experts has sparked my interest. I have never considered it as my role to conserve the environment as I have always assumed that environmental conservation is the role of environmental specialists. However, at this point, I have learned that I can also help conserve the environment and eliminate the dangers associated with environmental degradation. For this matter, I will put this in practice by planting trees, along with influencing the people around me not to dump litter in the environment.
