Environmental Ethics Position of Cosmetic Testing on Pets
Over the past years, the cosmetic business that revolves around beautification and sanitization of the skin has improved in performance. Due to past experiences and results on human skin, cosmetics get tested before being ascertained to be fit for human consumption. Unfortunately, the doctors carry out the tests on pets, where either their skin or eyes are used to find out the level of irritability they would have on human skin. The goal of this is paper is to enlighten people on the process used on the rabbit, as an excellent example for the tests, to explain why I disagree or support the procedures and the facts behind my argument.
I disagree with these lab tests that are carried out on animals for matters cosmetics. The pain that caused is too much, and with our current example, rabbits, which breed and grow in a quiet and natural environment become exposed to noise and too much lighting in these labs. Rabbits should not receive harsh treatments in these labs while other options are available to get the same results. It is essential to take care of human skin but not at the expense of innocent animals. According to J. G. (1999). Ethics – Animal ethics: Experimenting on animals. Retrieved May 19, 2019, from http://www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/animals/using/experiments_1.shtml “…the narrative of animals producing results is not always correct. Every product has not always brought actual results about human skin. Some lead to adverse ailments and the final result in death. ”
Some benefits accrue with the lab test as well; if the results of the test are beneficial to the human skin. Some compounds could be harmful to the human skin, and although it is challenging to quantify the importance of life when we compare human beings to animals, it is essential to take care of human skin. The laws that govern and look into the life of animals are not specific to the criminal level of offense towards people who engage in such crimes. Therefore it becomes difficult to put a bar at which it would otherwise result in criminal accusations for lab operations regarding tests of cosmetics on innocent animals.
