Ethical problems in business
Ethical problems are common in everyday businesses in organizations. The ethical issues are caused by various factors, which commonly include problems with relationships among the organization members, lack of integrity, misleading advertisements, and conflicts of interest. Ethical issues may occur in an organization when the leaders in it lack integrity in how they carry out the company’s operations. When honesty and fairness lack in their dealings that issues of ethics arise. An example is when the leaders harass and intimidate other people like their employees to get what they want. Another cause of the problem of ethics in business is advertisements that are misleading where a company advertises its products to the consumers using information that is false or unproven to have them purchase it(Marinova, 2019). This is unethical because the consumers do not get the right information to make a decision that is good. An example is when a company advertises that a particular product has certain nutritional benefits, then the consumers discover that it doesn’t.
The development of conflicts of interest in business also significantly gives rise to issues of ethics in business. For example, when a team leader happens to have a personal relationship with a member of the team, his judgment may get clouded when it comes to making decisions causing him to favor the person he knows over the others (Zeni, 2017).Problems of ethics also arise when there are issues arising from organizational relationships. This happens when the organization has no objectives, missions, and goals that are set. This creates confusion and problems, especially when the employees put their personal agenda ahead of the goals of the business. An example is when an employee pressure another employee to engage in conduct that is mot ethical, like illegally obtaining money from the business for use to achieve personal interests or using the resources of the company for personal gain.
