Ethics and Beauty
According to the article, beauty is not tied indiscriminately tied to race. It is only a narrative implying that black woman is lacking in beauty. For this reason, they try to become beauty to reap the standards of the white by applying cosmetics to increase their beauty. According to American standard physical features such as blue eyes, blond hair and fair skin are what make them beautiful while on the other hand black woman have thick lips, dark skin and kinky hair.
Ethnic is what distinguishes a community to the other. it includes the type of clothing with a certain design, the kind of food, their geographical location and ancestral settings. Wearing a certain dress with unique pattern motif and pattern size signifies the area and tribe one is coming from. For instance, wearing the “kasode” with its loose fit and square sleeve it implies one is a Japanese while wearing an indigo dyed cloak leaving their skin blue indicates one is a Tuareg of North Africa.
A garment is not ethnically right to wear of it is not produced by somebody from the same ethnic. It is because when a garment is designed it has a unique pattern which is unique. The reason is that it degrades the ethnicity of that community into a mere costume. It is also marked as a sacred identity of the group thus no one is supposed to produce apart from the owner of the garment design
It becomes difficult because most of the people have a strong sense of identity to their ethnic through the clothing. Wearing those clothes according to the research it shows a person not only values his/her culture but also, he/she uses it as a sign of enhancing personality. It also makes them stay unique rather than being uniform.
