Ethics, Standards, and Nursing Frameworks paper
Standards for ethical behaviors for professional nurses are set by national professional organizations such as ANA (Boyd, 2017, p.34). There are several ethical principles to consider when providing psychiatric nursing care, including autonomy, beneficence, justice, non maleficence, paternalism, veracity, and fidelity.
The biopsychsocial framework focuses on the three separate but interdependent dimensions of biologic, psychological, and social factors in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders. This comprehensive and holistic approach to mental disorders is the foundation for effective psychiatric-mental health nursing practice is integrated into recovery and wellness models.
