Evolving language
Hello Paloma and Ebelina, I agree with you that language is dancing and evolving at the same pace that technology evolves. Words such as “sick” traditionally have been used to indicate that someone is unwell. Nowadays it is used to mean that something is great. Nowadays words are shortened and the new generation uses abbreviations such as ttyl and lol. Language advances each day hence we should remain up to date to understand each other better.
Hello Courtney and Ryan, I agree with you that some words have been redefined by the recent culture. Basketball was traditionally called round ball. This has changed with time because the game has changed. “Sweet” was traditionally used to describe a taste. It is now used to describe excitement. The word “sick” was traditionally used to mean unwell. It is now being used to describe something good. This is an indication that language changes and will continue to change.
