There are various models used by different mental health institutions to provide services for mental health and substance abuse. Some of these models include the Behavioral Therapy Model, which helps identify and rectify self-destructive behaviors and the Community Reinforcement Approach Model, an outpatient type of therapy service with different treatment strategies (Houser, K. et al.,2019). The discussion below is an analysis of the Behavioral Therapy Model and Community Reinforcement Model.
Behavioral Therapy Model focuses on changing a person’s behavior by educating them on life skills that help them manage and get through situations that can cause a mental breakdown or lead to substance abuse. This model is useful because a patient can begin with intensive assistance, and later after recovering, outpatient services are offered to follow up on their recovery and progress. The follow up through the outpatient setting services is vital in preventing relapse (Wadden, T. et al. 2019). Community Reinforcement Approach Model offers outpatient care through different therapeutic strategies, including motivating the patients, substance abuse patterns analysis, and involving the family members of the patient. This model is effective because, through the above strategies, the patient feels that there’re people who care for them. Through the motivation, they are assured of getting over the mental disorder, be it depression or addiction, be it drugs or alcoholism that they are going through. The models above will help the organization obtain a larger market share and prevent potential market competitors from succeeding because both models offer outpatient services preferred by most people.
In conclusion, the discussion above has analyzed that Behavioral Therapy Model and Community Reinforcement Approach Model are effective models in providing mental health and substance abuse services. The availability of outpatient services is a more convenient way of obtaining treatment, therefore suitable to many people. Everyone hopes that well-modified models for providing mental health and substance abuse services will be established in the future.
