Factors influencing the advancement of nursing

Nursing activities have changed over time from the nurses being called witch doctors to them being given a significant position in modern society. In the past, the sick used to address the witch doctors when they were ill, but the world has now changed, and people go to the hospital for treatment. Nursing has evolved as people depend on the nurses for proper health care services. Nursing is also being taught to individuals so that they can practice home-based care when they are sick, instead of going to hospitals to receive care (Glembocki, 2013).

The key leaders and historical events that have influenced the advancement of nursing is the change in people’s attitude towards medical care. People are now aware of the importance of going to hospitals to receive medical care, and this ensures that the nurses always have patients to take care of.  Education has also improved, making it possible for nursing to be taught well in schools. There is too much motivation from the new education systems that motivate more people to study nursing as a career course. Much experience and ideas are also increasing as more research is being done, and this has improved the mode in which nurses give out their services. Teamwork among the health care workers has enhanced experience as there is so much that is discovered and ideas are shared among people. Nurses are also allowed to further their education as they continue working, and this encourages most of them to continue learning to gain much experience (Meleis, 2007).

The government and other institutions have been funding nursing schools to ensure that training types of equipment are always available for the nurses when learning. Nurses are among the people who are well paid, and this increases their satisfaction providing that they offer the best services to the patients (Glembocki, 2013).
