Family Caregiver Assessment
Reflection
As noted from the assessment of the family caregiver, there is a lot of work that needs to be done. This indicates that either the family caregiver had many duties to carry out since there was no one to help or the caregiver had to work overtime. In either case, the caregiver always felt tired. Daily, much time and energy were utilized trying to meet the set objectives. Despite being physically and emotionally exhausted, healthcare givers did not always get encouragements that could sustain their working morale and enhance their wellbeing. Furthermore, the caregiver has to give provision of health care services a priority over personal interests as a way of trying to meet the expectations. This meant it was hard for the caregiver to accomplish personal goals or get time to refresh after the long working hours. Nevertheless, daily activities of the caregiver entailed taking care of the community members ensuring they attained their wellbeing while their health was deteriorating. As presented by the caregiver, there was always an element of being anxious. This was contributed by the fact that they did not know what to expect or what awaited them. Most of the time the caregiver wished to have more support, especially from the loved ones. However, the caregiver was not able to realize it because of being tired most of the time and feeling exhausted. The experiences portrayed by the caregiver showed that there were high chances of being demoralized to continue carrying out the duties. As a result, the need to have urgent solutions to address the existing challenge was demonstrated.
Recommendations
There is a need for effective measures to be implemented which will ensure family caregivers can carry out their duties in a much comfortable manner. This could be achieved through ensuring there are enough caregivers who will be able to handle family clients and at the same time carry out other duties that are required. Thus, the caregivers will not have to strain during the provision of healthcare services. Also, there is a need to have favorable working schedules which will ensure that caregivers do not exhaust their energy and they can also have enough time to relax. Most importantly, caregivers should be equipped with the necessary skills and resources that will ensure they are in a position to give the right services at the estimated period
Discussion
Family caregivers need both physical and emotional support to ensure they can sustain they’re well being as they take care of others. Also, caregivers should have time to refresh because it would help to relax their mind as they carry out other activities different from what they are scheduled to accomplish daily. Family members and friends are the specific people that should provide the greatest form of support to the caregivers. Therefore, they need to understand the nature of duties which caregivers provide. This would make sure they do not get disturbance while relaxing or find themselves in situations where they have to strain more while in their homes. It is also necessary to recognize that caregivers are human beings with full human rights to enjoy. Hence, no restrictions should be applied in the life of a caregiver to make sure they also have healthy lives.
