Self-Exploration
After taking part in the self-exploration series dubbed Personal Globe Inventory (PGI), there several basic things I learned about myself. Primarily, PGI has enabled me to gauge my interest and competency in relation to my career choices and how this influences my decisions. There are several inherent character traits I learned as a result of carrying out the PGI. For instance, excellent communication skills, ability to critically make decisions, first-hand ability to solve problems, and also ability to forecast and plan for the future. Besides, I realized I am passionate about the coordination of plans, organizing ideas, supervising other people, and also persuading others to adopt my beliefs. Furthermore, my personality encompasses leadership capabilities due to my ability to bring order and reason to processes or situations. Naturally, due to my interest in building relationships and managing people, I realized my career choices would be influenced by it. Besides, I also realized the inherent ability in me to be a good team player in order to achieve set goals.
Due to the nature of my personality, after carrying out the Personal Globe Inventory test (PGI), my career interests were based on the strength of my character. As a result, my occupational career results included a sales manager, human resource manager, and a public relations specialist. The compatibility of personality with career choice is an essential facet for career development. The right kind of motivation to succeed in a career can only be achieved by merging personal traits with career types. For career development, several personal values have a significant impact on the progress and success of my career line. The virtue of humility is guiding individual principles in every aspect of life. To achieve career progress, the ability to consider others and their opinion are fundamental. Typically, this is because development is highly achieved where diversity is encouraged by the leaders by listening to the views of their fellow workers. Besides, I also believe that risk-taking unearth the potential of any business. Ideally, I think that the progress of any company is tied in its ability to take the plan, process, and execute risky ventures and also the ability to mitigate through them. Risk-taking is fundamental for my career development.
Establishing and building healthy relationships is an essential career value that spurs development. To advance in my career choices, the ability to develop, sustain, and build healthy relationships is vital. For instance, establishing a good relationship among workers ensures internal unity and harmony as workers are united to achieve the company’s goals and objectives. Furthermore, excellent rapport with other companies provides the right corporate image for a company resulting in career development. The PGI also enabled me to realize my talent and skills in establishing excellent interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities, and exceptional prowess in disseminating information. Typically, these skills influenced my career choices as they are coherent with my personality. Nevertheless, I also realized I needed to work on team-building skills, safety consciousness, and time management skill for more efficiency.

Sales Manager. A sales manager is tasked with planning, organizing, and setting goals for an organization. Furthermore, a manager should effectively analyze a company’s progress (based on the present and past performance), make future projections, and muster the direction of the organization. Besides, a sales manager should motivate and encourage the sales representatives to meet their goals. Moreover, they hire and train newly recruited sales agents to equip them with the necessary skills. Third, the sales manager links the sales department to other departments and with the executive. Collaboration with the marketing department is crucial in developing a new customer base and lead sources.
In order to pursue a sales career, a business administration major is required. However, people with other majors in fields such as math and statistics can also pursue these careers based on their personality. For a student to qualify to pursue a sales career at Arizona state university, a GPA of 3.6 is required from high school. Primarily, Arizona state university offers sales related courses, and its ideal for pursuing my career path. The certified Sales Leadership Professional (CSLP) is one of the professional organizations for sales. A sales manager has a salary range between $95000 and $155000 annually. The sales manager’s occupation helps to develop leadership skills. Nevertheless, the limitation of being a sales manager is that it is highly tasking and needs an outgoing personality. My major in business fits this occupation perfectly because the roles and qualifications are quite similar.
Human Resource Manager. A human resource manager is involved in planning, directing, and coordinating the administrative roles in a company. In addition, HR manager recruits, interviews, and hires workers in an organization. Furthermore, the HR manager is tasked with linking the company management with their workers. Typically, a human resource person should have taken Bachelor of Arts in human resources or a business management course as their major in college or campus. For a student to qualify to pursue a sales career at Arizona state university, a cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required from high school. Consequently, for admission, the student is required to pay $50 as the application fee, which is nonrefundable.
However, Capella University also offers several business management course majors; hence students pursuing the human resource path as their major can also join. A human resource career path is a highly regarded career, and the responsibility of managing other employees’ transforms one into a great leader. Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) is one of the leading professional bodies offering and supporting the occupation. The salary of a human resource manager ranges from $99000 to $175000 in a year. Consequently,this is a considerably high salary that fits the responsibility of an HR manager. The number of HR managers is likely to increase by 13 percent before 2022. One of the benefits of being an HR manager is the ability to map talents. As a result, it is easy for an HR manager to identify talented employees and maximize their potential towards achieving organizational goals and objectives. Nevertheless, the limitation of being an HR manager is that there are limited resources to manage and maintain the workforce. Consequently, my major in business fits this occupation perfectly because the roles and qualifications are quite similar. Furthermore, since my major is related to marketing, the careers I can pursue are only related and connoted to the business sphere.
Influencing Factors
There are quite a number of external factors that might affect my career development—for instance, the personality of my fellow employees. Working as either an HR manager or a sales manager, the personality of my core workers is a prerequisite to my career development. Working with employees who foster like-minded and goal-oriented personality will enhance my career development and vice versa. In addition, to achieve success, be more efficient, and provide satisfactory input at any position, adequate education is essential. Due to the dynamic nature of the corporate world, getting new skills through training programs is critical for ensuring career development and competitiveness. In addition, the current world job evaluation by my superiors is an essential facet for my career development. In the near future, there are several external factors that will influence my career choices. These factors include the financial situation of the company, family, and cultural beliefs. The financial stability of a company and better pay will inevitably influence my career choices in the future. Ideally, this is because job security is primarily crucial in any career. Family plays an essential and irreplaceable role in my life. In order to balance between family responsibility and a work obligation, the family may influence my career choices in the future. Culture plays an intermitted role in our lives. Culture defines the core beliefs and values we hold dearly to, and as a result, any career-oriented choice in the future with being influenced by my cultural opinion.
Diversity is usually inevitable in the workplace because people from different cultures, societies, religions, and political, ideological groups meet. To deal with diversity-related issues at my workplace, I have trained myself to recognize and understand each person is entitled to their point of view, and they ascribe to specific ideologies. In addition, I have realized we achieve more when we appreciate and celebrate our diverse natures instead of discriminating against one another. I have also learned that it is important not to assume people but instead reach out in order to maximize our diversity for the common good of the organization.
The Future
To achieve a successful career in the future, I will need to maximize on my strengths while improving my weaknesses. Any fulfilling career is established along with personality traits, interests, skills and talents. In order to achieve success, I will always be actively seeking for opportunities to learn new things, vocational training to horn my skills and workshop exposures to build my leadership capabilities. Due to my belief in ethical leadership, I will work on building a rapport between my workforce and exposing every worker to the core values of the company. By having a successful career that exposes me to lead other people and utilize my personal skills and talents fulfills my career values and goals of fostering teamwork, establishing healthy relationships, etc. In five years from now, I will have started my first job after completing my major in college. Additionally, in a period of 10 years, I foresee myself to have risen in rank to management level, which will enable me to develop my leadership capabilities. In 20 years, I will have started my own company after gaining experience from other companies.
In conclusion, pursuing an HR manager major at the university is the most immediate reasonable step to take; a cumulative GPA of about 3.0 is required to pursue my career path. Based on my personality, I am confident in my ability to be an effective manager. Furthermore, I have a passion for managing an organization and leading to people. This information will help me determine the right career path.
