Free Market Reproduction Learning Scenario and Reflection
Free market reproduction mainly entails giving rise to children. In contrast, the norm is, a husband and a wife or a mom and a dad are not actively involved in the reproduction process instead a sperm is taken from a male and an egg from a female and through the use of technology an offspring is made or the use of technology to increase the chances of conception in a woman. This technology is referred to as Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). This technology has not assisted people with infertility issues has somewhat circumvented them. Also, the sperm or the egg can be taken from a third party who has no responsibility whatsoever in raising the offspring.
On the other hand, this technology has assisted people with infertility issues to get kids. Among the types of ART is infertility, and two parties assisted reproduction and third-party assisted reproduction. The former is going to be discussed in detail in this essay.
Basically, in two-third assisted reproduction, several methods are applied. First, medication can stimulate the chances of ovulation in a lady, which then increases the chances of conception. When this is done, chances are the woman is going to have multiple births, which is risky to her and the offspring. Secondly, In Vitro Fertilization(IVF), a woman is given fertility drugs to increase the number of eggs produced. One egg is extracted and mixed with a sperm in a petri dish, and fertilization takes place. Thirdly, Intracytoplasmic sperm insertion (ICSI), where a sperm is injected into the egg, and the embryo is later implanted in the uterus wall for the fetus to grow adequately.
Although this type of free-market reproduction has some ethical issues associated with it, it also has some advantages and hence outdoes others. Some of its main benefits include: many people who would be unable to conceive have got children through IVF, fertilization problems can be diagnosed, especially in IVF, it has been more successful than other forms. In my view, this method is the most ethical.
