Women have been treated as inferior sex and mostly excluded from participating in education, politics, and certain professions. The history of gender equality is attributed to the changing relationship between men and women that is fueled by the pro-woman movements. Gender equality promotes equal access and contribution to the cultural life of women and men. Gender equality guarantees freedom of expression for all, which has fostered the intellectual and spiritual growth of all community members. The community has proven that gender equality is a critical enabler of socio-economic empowerment and inclusive development. However, the access to equality based on gender is restricted by various cultural settings to specific social groups. Notably, women and girls encounter complex barriers in participating in their cultural life. Notably, gender relations play a crucial role in fostering creativity and in the transmission of knowledge of heritage. Women and girls are often stereotyped, by creating a glass ceiling with limited opportunities to share their creativity or reach top management and leadership positions. Most cultural communities have prevailing views on gender and negative stereotypes that limit on freedom of expression based on sex-specific challenges and gender. Although the world has significantly progressed towards the attainment of gender equality, women and girls continue being abused and discriminated in various cultural settings. Providing women equal access to decent work, health care, education, and representing in decision-making will result in sustainable economies that benefit the broader community. Gender equality promotes religious views that believe all people are equal before God. For society to eradicate gender discrimination, new legal frameworks should be implemented to get rid of harmful practices targeting women and gender-based stereotyping.
