Global Telemedicine Rio Olympics Project.
Span statement.
Purpose of the Global Telemedicine. Olympic Games give a vast opportunity for the Global Telemedicine since there are many participants in the various athletics.
Athletes who are injured can receive their treatment in a faster mode considering the medics can communicate the condition of the injured athlete to a specialist before the patient arrives in the medical center.
Any necessary injury information is recorded and forward through the use of telecommunication devices.
The specialist will receive crucial information about the patient and be aware of the treatment to be undertaken.
If a specialist based in the nearest medical center cannot handle the case, the athlete can decide to contact a medical specialist of his or her own and send the details of the injuries.
In case the athlete receives medical attention and gets well, he or she is taken back to participating in games.
History and performance. Global Telemedicine dates back in 2002 where this advancement was applied in the field of learning.
The organizational structure consisted of various staff who reported to their seniors and the organizational structure kept on changing depending on the roles available.
For the Global Telemedicine to be operational, not a single player could have made it possible and therefore it called for collaboration of various players.
A collaboration called for players like HP, Cisco, and Microsoft among other players.
There is direct interaction between the clients and the medics which aids in speeding up the medication process.
Application in the Rio Olympics followed the interest in making the world know that there exits such technology and probably convince the rest of the world to embrace it as it connects the whole world from a single point.
Its application followed the commitment of finance to carry out a pilot test before the actual practice in the field.
To come up with the equipment used in the Olympic Games, the Globalmed research group ensured easy to use devices were available.
Supply of the equipment followed where only authorized dealers could supply the equipment as the team made Global Telemedicine practical.
Training followed where the medics in the host country, i.e., Brazil were educated on the new technology as well as those located in the home countries of the athletics participants.
For the equipment to reach the host country, there was a need for some logistics which ensured safe transportation and in time to allow for the clearance by the Brazilian government as well as their installation.
The Global Telemedicine group was entitled to the repairs as well as having its representative onsite with these representatives and maintenance individuals having received adequate training to make them efficient in their operations.
