GM TECHNOLOGY AND WHY IT SHOULD BE ADOPTED

Introduction

GM technology is well known as the genetic modification technology, which mainly occurs in plants and animals to improve their quality in terms of maturity and productivity. GM technology has been one of the significant steps takes in the improvement in the agricultural sector and which has brought a more substantial impact on the development in the industry. Every area of the economy has improved in a way. Therefore the application of genetic modification technology has been to the part of agriculture and which has been a significant step. In this paper, I will be mainly focusing on the considerable benefits of the GM technology and which gives it credit to be used one and again across the world to continue enhancing the experience of consumers of those GM products.

Huang, Jikun, Xiaobing Wang, and Hugh Dang. “Impacts of and attitudes toward GM technology in China: Challenges, policy and research implications.” China agricultural economic review (2017).

According to Huang, J., Wang, X., & Dang, the GM technology has brought about a more significant impact in the agricultural sector in the past two decades since its implementation and which has shown it importance to the people. Through the introduction of GM technology, the productivity of both animals and plants have gone up in China, which an indication of its benefits in its application. Also, the quality of the products which has been modified genetically has dramatically improved comparing to the ordinary products which have not been genetically modified. According to this article, although there have been some of the allegations that GM technology is harmful, the positive part of it is the greatest, and therefore it should be widely applied.

Repalli, Sai Krishna. “GM FOODS OR NOT.” (2017).

Repalli, in his article above, tries to point out some of the significant traits which those crops and animals which have been modified genetically possess, and which makes the GM technology vital in its application from time to time. The genetically modified plants and animals are resistance to the different diseases and pests, which makes them more reliable in fighting the bugs and pests. Also, there is a higher yield in those animals and crops as compared to the others which have not been genetically modified. From that, genetic modification has played a significant role in solving the problem of hunger and lack of food across the world.

Jangra, Sumit, et al. “GM crops: the need of tomorrow’s.” International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Biotechnology 2.02 (2017).

The articles focus on the adoption of the GM technology in different countries as well as some of the challenges which the technology has brought to the consumers of those products from time to time. Jangra and the other individuals who were involved in the research above linked the application of the GM foods technology and the raw material which the food companies require. The GM technology has played a significant role in the growth of different industries and more so the industries which use crop products and animals as their raw material. That is because the GM technology has increased the yields of those products and thereby ensuring that the industries have enough to use in their industries to produce the end products, which they sale to the customers in different areas.

Conclusion

From the above discussions, it is now evident in the different application of GM technology in the modern world in the agricultural sector, as well as its impact on the lives of the people. As a result of the implementation of the technology, the issue of food shortage and malnutrition in different parts of the world have become a story of the past. Therefore that is a clear indication of how vital the application of GM technology is and the need for more improvement and widespread use of technology from time to time. Also, there is a need for some control measures to be taken to reduce the challenges and the negative impacts of the technology to the health of the people to make it have the ultimate advantage to the people.
