God is perfect
Descartes is aware that his mind is imperfect and finite, and within it, he finds the idea of God as infinite and perfect. He believes that God is perfect and does not deceive even though He has the power to deceive and thus has given him faculty of judgment. However, Descartes finds himself in a puzzle that if God is perfect and gave him perfect faculty of judgment, then why does he make mistakes? What is the source of such error? Descartes, therefore, finds that he is somewhere in the middle between nothingness and God. Consequently, he has a certain degree of perfection, reality and being but not as perfect as God he is, and this is the reason for errors.
I agree with Descartes that God is perfect and although he created us, we are not perfect and at the top as he is. Consequently, I agree with his idea that God is all-good and makes no errors. Sometimes, we make errors because we lack full information about something and in fact, we cannot have all information. The error, therefore, occurs due to lack of perfection.
Descartes argues, the error of humans does not come directly from God but is due to the concurrence of the will and intellect or ability to understand and choose. Since the error is due to the absence of perfection, this is not God’s fault because although God created him with a capability of making errors, he can still be careful and avoid mistakes as possible. Similarly, I agree with Descartes that although we were created with the ability to make errors, we can control ourselves and our will to avoid errors making society a better place. Therefore I as well defend God as not a source of error to human.
