Health coverage
I agree that healthcare should be considered as a basic human right. Secondly, I believe that it is time that people realize that health insurance are very important and everybody should consider a plan that will help him or her to access timely medical care. This implies that having health coverage is one of the ways that will help to improve health outcomes because people will not only consider going for medical check-ups when they fall sick. Hadley and Bovbjerg argue that the lack of health coverage is associated with about 18000 deaths among adults who are not insured. More so, uninsured people receive less medical care and have poor health outcomes. Possibly, this is the reason why Ho (2015) argues that health insurance should provide people in different countries with plans for financing their medical needs. This is important because most of the people on low incomes lack a financial protection when they get sick. Some are even force to forgo medical services thereby creating more problems such as inability to work.
On a further note, I agree that although health coverage plays crucial roles, most of the Americans lack access to health insurance. Makowska (2018) argues that more than 15% of the American population is not insured, and this poses a great risk to healthcare systems. For instance, people who do not have insurance covers have limited access to medical services, and this can lower their quality of life especially, when they get ill. In other words, while the United States is one of the countries with good healthcare systems, a considerable number of its populations do not access equitable and quality healthcare services due to the absence of health insurance. Similarly, Camillo (2016) supports the idea that health insurance in America is complex, costly, and unequal, and this creates a disadvantage to low-income populations. Although reforms have increased coverage and access to medical care over time, there is still more to be done to support an equitable universal access. Policy makers should focus n reducing costs without compromising the quality and availability of healthcare services.
