PREVENTION OF HEART FAILURE
Pathophysiology
It is a discipline in medicine that deals with functions and the various symptoms of diseased organs to diagnose and care for the patients.
It is important to detect a person likely to be affected by heart failure (Mantel, 2017).
Once this is done earlier, heart failure can be managed hence improving the quality of life and survival.
lifestyle changes
Lifestyle is the best defense against heart attack, and this is ones responsibility.
Examples are exercising, stress managing, reducing much sodium in the diet, and also managing the body weight (Alfonso et al., 2014).
The reason for this is to improve the quality of life.
Monitoring weight, BP, pulse
Checking on one’s weight is essential. If one becomes obese, that individual requires more blood to supply enough nutrients and oxygen in the body. This causes high blood pressure (Mantel, 2017).
Pulse refers to the number of time per minute that the arteries expand and contract while responding to the pumping action of the heart.
To move blood around the body, more pressure is required, which is a common cause of heart failure.
Blood pressure should be checked regularly.
Heart Failure
It is a term used to describe a heart that cannot keep up with the workload. This is because the heart muscle does not pump blood as it should (Alfonso et al., 2014).
Some signs and Symptoms are:
Fatigue and weakness
Irregular heartbeat
Reduced ability to exercise
Persistence in coughing
Lack of appetite
chest pain
Medication to manage HR
Human rate is the number of times the heart beats in a minute.
A healthy heart supplies the body with the right amount of blood and at the same rate depending on what the body is doing at that given time.
If a heart is beating out of rhythm, too slow, too fast, then one should talk to a doctor immediately ( Lipset, 2017).
Aims of heart failure management
To achieve symptoms management.
To achieve improvement in survival.
To achieve improvement in symptoms
Diuretics
Digoxin
furosemide
ACE inhibitors
Dobutamine
To achieve improvement in survival
Oral nitrates plus hydralazine
Beta-blockers (e.g. bisoprolol and carvedilol)
ACE inhibitors
According to Anne Wilson Schaef, one cannot buy good health, but it can be an extremely valuable saving account.
