A content brief is a document, usually issued by the client, containing instructions as to how the content should be created – from the keywords, titles, subheads, the word count to the outreach persons.
On the other hand, a competitor analysis is a sheet that the freelancer uses soon after receiving the content brief to analyze the client’s competitors and come up with a content structure that aims to beat content already ranking on page 1.
