You mentioned that social learning theory was developed by Albert Bandura, which illustrates that people learn from the observations of behavior in their surroundings. This theory explains human behavior. You have also mentioned that the theory incorporates other ideologies such as the environmental, cognitive, and behavioral influences, as mentioned in your paper. Insanity has also been defined in your essay as a disordered state of mind (Ferdico et al., 2015). Insanity can also be explained by the mental illness, which can, at times, be used as a defense in cases of criminal defense. You offered an example of the case of Daniel M’Naghten, who was indicted for the murder of Edward Drummond. This case has been sued as the basis of other cases in the criminal justice system in the United States.

You have provided the presumptions that in cases where a gruesome crime was committed, the person is perceived to be insane. In most cases, this is perceived as authentic and determines the course of justice for the defendant in the trial. However, this is not an excuse for a person to commit crime hence the commitment to psychiatric wards. Although there seems to be a lack of justice in cases such as murder, it can be deduced that insanity pleas have been used by different criminals to escape capital punishment (Meitl, 2017). I also agree with your assessment of the limitations of the criminal justice system. In this respect, the influence ad social status of people also determines the level of access they have in terms of legal help. I, therefore, agree with you that ecological approaches can be incorporated into the contemporary criminal justice system.
