Robin was a highway thief who entertains his guest before robbing them off their gold. The fact that he gives his victims liquor and have them enjoy before he relieves them off their gold shows politeness. Other highway thieves are brutal but he chooses to not harm his victims even though he is stealing from them. In the story , Robin is a choosy thief. His victims are always barons, knights, nobles and even the figures leading the church. These people including the leaders of the church are abusing their power. The fact that Robin is choosy and does not rob the poor, shows that he is considerate even for a thief. He is also very courteous and entertaining to his victims. Some of them even admit that it was a privilege being robbed by Robbin. These reactions from the victims and the actions of Robin makes the reader feel that he was a just robber. Robin is a man used to taking from people. However he encounters a sad knight with no money and instead Robin lends him some money to pay off his loan Abbot who is cruel. The deed is heroic on his part. He shows mercy to a knight and even helps him financially. For a person who steals for a living, he has good qualities.
Conclusively, the story of Robin has a lot of lessons. The church leaders who are supposed to be the good people in society abuse their powers. However a thief who is seen as a sinner in the eyes of others display compassion and mercy opposite of what is expected by society.
