HISTORY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Consider the economics of the south in the chapter of reconstruction with that of the west and north. In which environment would it have been more possible to pursue individual goals? How did racism and ethnic bigotry form the lives of working people in each of these areas? The economic levels of the south during the reconstruction were at their worst times since there was the issue of most people losing their lives, whereby the civil war consumed most of the homes involved by fire. Therefore, this makes the southern part not a suitable ground to pursue most of the individual goals since many effects came in due to the civil war that, in one way or another, would affect the psychological side of a human being trying to achieve most of their goals. Therefore, this makes the north economics working out for any individual that wants to complete most of their goals since the north side consisted of the right leaders, including Lincoln, who had a definite idea and ways to reconstruct. However much there was the exploitation of the black men in the reconstruction on the northern side; a leader was determined to make most of the reconstruction work fall into place. Therefore, this would make it the right environment to achieve most of an individual’s goals since there is the need brought in to succeed in most of the projects in place; however, much there are different issues involved that could not be friendly.
- Look over the black codes of Mississippi and describe two ways in these codes in which African Americans had their rights stripped away following the civil war?
Worse than slavery is the book in place, written by David Oshinsky. He brings out the codes of Mississippi by making it known how the African Americans are exploited in all ways while working in the Mississippi farms. This called in for hard labor whereby they were stripped and given a lot of work without rest hence human exploitation since their concerns as human beings were not put in the bigger picture at any time of the day. The codes contributed a lot to the exploitation and mistreatment of the African Americans working in the fields in the sense that they were first brought in the miscopy fields when they were desolated with both floods and fire. This called in for the slaves to work as hard as possible to make the land fertile by all means and also make the land productive by making sure that they had well cultivated it and made the best use of it. Putting slavery in mind, the codes highly brought in the act by bringing in more exploitation to the African American slaves who were not paid any wages for the hard labor they got involved in, more importantly, was the thought and understanding of the rulers of the land they cultivated whereby they had a harsh nature that didn’t favor most of them. This also called in for them, denying them their human rights by overworking them and making sure that they would punish those who tried to rebel by using inhuman ways beyond human safety measures. The codes brought in a lot of human mistreatment since they were meant to establish Mississippi at large since it was breaking at the moment by bringing in slaves that would do most of the work without being paid any penny. The other mistreatment that the codes brought in was disrespecting African American slaves, who most of the people felt that they were not human regardless of their efforts in the fields. However much there was slavery in place, there was a way that everything worked out when the civil war broke out, which was meant to fight for most of the people involved, whereby it aimed at making rules or laws that would abolish slavery by all means. Therefore, this curbed the slavery problems that were being experienced in Mississippi since legal terms were put into place and could not be corrupted at any point in the day.
- Read “what the black man wants” by Frederick Douglass. What does the black man want according to Douglass and how does it relate to the three constituency groups that he mentions (meaning three groups will be affected by the specific thing wanted and in three different ways). Based on the info on the end of reconstruction in the text, why do you think Douglass would argue that repair failed.
According to Frederick, the black man has the desire to have his freedom. As well seen in the book, Douglass has a clear way of bringing out the impact of being a human activist in all sense whereby he fights for both the black woman and the black man by standing in the gap for them by all means whereby he addresses all the issues that are oppressing their regular stay in their environments which is the setup of the united states of America. Most of the black men were taken in for slavery, and this meant that there was human torture; this was well experienced in the 18th century, whereby the black people were exploited by all means in the states. According to Frederick Douglass, there was the need to address freedom for the African American people involved. According to his book title, it is evident that he brings out what the African men needed to get treated. He brings out slavery as the main issue that disturbed the African species, whereby the white people exploited them in all kinds of ways. The book brings out the fighting of freedom for people involved in different types of setup in the American background, whereby he meant that they were human beings just like white people.
As seen in the book, his main goal was to abolish slavery and all kinds of exploitation from the Africans living in the states whereby, he brings out the need to bring in moral improvement for all types of people; both black and white for the sake of a society with equal rights and freedom which would, later on, bring in a peaceful and harmonious society. His leading role in the book is to bring out the effects brought about by slavery since he was one whereby, he successfully escaped from the attack. This brings out the fighting nature of Frederick when freedom is put in place. Having the successful act in place, Frederick had to push for the same rights for the African slaves by bringing out the need to let them free by all means whereby he had also experienced the same dangers the rest of the slaves were going through at the moment. He brought out the world’s impact by making sure that he fought for the civil rights of people that were considered to be of no importance to the society in the states, and that included the slaves.
- Read the poems on immigration and explain the historical difference between the “theory of equality” and the practice of discrimination in American society.
Immigration has always been defined as the movement of people from one country to another for various reasons. When the migration is put in place, there is the thought of most people running away from negative things that could be happening in their current countries; hence, they have to run for safety by all means. When the theory of equality is put into place when the immigration issued is reflected, it rings out the racial issues that come along with most people leaving the states for being not treated in the right way. When racism is highly reflected, most of the black people in the rules tend to hate their livelihoods since most of the whites discriminate them and exploit them by all means which leaves out most of the black people having no say in their neighborhoods whereby they live in the same areas with the white people. It is more experienced with black people going through slavery since they have no support from anybody since most of the rules and laws put into place do not look into the racial issues they may be going through. It is more unfortunate for them to migrate to other counties as they look for the right environments. They will also be respected since, in all ways, they are human beings that need to be treated in a humanly way. When the practice of discrimination is put in the bigger picture, it also relates with the theory of equality whereby most of the black people in the states are not treated as equally as the white people due to all kinds of discrimination as mentioned above whereby racism is the main form of discrimination experienced since the black people are treated as an inferior race by the whites. Discrimination high affects the social lives of the African American individuals who are considered to be black since they are not accepted in the states since most of the white people exploit and mistreat them by bringing in all kinds of inhuman behaviors that tend to hurt both the feelings and emotions of the black people hence depressive measures experienced in those individuals since their esteem levels are shot down. The two theories work in place, especially when immigration is mentioned. Most of the discriminated members have no conducive environment in the states, hence migrating to other countries that they will find acceptance.
