Horse Flat Race Vs Horse Endurance race

When it comes to all speed-loving Aussies, an experience in either flat horse or endurance race is great as it means viewing wonderful creatures in action as they also share few drinks moments with their mates. Horse racing is a major way of national pastime and many would agree on the many similarities of flat horse and endurance races. Some of the elements to look out when comparing different types of horse contests are racing codes as well as governing structures of each of them. Additionally, every type of race is limited to a certain number of horses and different breeds of animals are used for variety of racings. The training facilities for the races and the professional stables also vary in some cases. Another element considered during comparison is the physical racecourses taken in various types.

Flat horse racing is well-known to most people and it is performed in an oval course and manages to get the most media attention among other races. Some of the horse breeds commonly used in the flat horse races are Thoroughbred, Arabian, and Quarter among others. The race takes place on a flat surface whose firmness may differ with seasons. There exists seven stages of firmness in a flat race known as ‘going’. The grading of firmness in a flat race is essential since it affects the runner’s speed. Rating in a flat horse racing depends on the speed and the amount of time the horses can remain in the contest in combination with the expertise of management of jockeys. In an endurance race however, a certain speed limit is set for which the horses should ride in each day of the contest. In endurance races, the travels are long and professionals are always posted at different stages to keep check of the health of the animal and decide whether to give them further certification to proceed with the contest.

In the United Kingdom for example, flat horse race covers about two miles which is measured in about five to sixteen furlongs. For endurance races, the horse runs across a great distance in the country that ranges from forty to one hundred and sixty kilometers where the great journey is subdivided into varying categories relevant to the length of travel. The different subdivisions in endurance races are marked with stars and given a CEI note according to the guidelines of the FEI. The flat racing may also consist of other shorter distance practices which are known as ‘sprints’. On the other hand, endurance racing is different since the distance covered by the sport is generally large. Flat horse racing are always happening in different parts in the world which is why those who love betting on the sport find their racing odds easily.

In both races, presence of many fans indicates pinnacle of the activity. The winner horse in both races is declared once they cross the target marks at first position. In endurance race however, the winner horse must have passed all the certifications of the veterinary checks that are done periodically throughout the contest. The speed is also important factor in an endurance race as well as the recovery rate from the interval checkups for the animal. In almost all races, horses ride on grass turf and it is also becoming common for the contests to be held on terrain surfaces.
