Research objectives:
This report will be based on some critical goals. These objectives will be followed throughout to research on the given topic. The research objectives are:
- To assess the contribution of the Universities of Australia for the economic growth of the country
- To analyze all the factors which assist in the increase in the number of students in the Universities of Australia
- To analyze the different social factors which contribute to the growth in the number of students in the Universities of Australia
- To find the processes by which the Universities of Australia can increase the growth in the number of students to boost the economy of the country
Purpose of conducting the research:
It has been analyzed that the economic growth for the Universities of Australia has contributed significantly on increasing the employment and economy of the country. The social and financial resources that the universities provide help the Government of the country sustain the economic growth significantly. A significant percentage of GDP of the country comes from the universities of Australia. In recent years, students from different countries around the world have enrolled themselves in the Universities of Australia (Norton, Cherastidtham & Mackey, 2016). This is due to the quality of education and skills that the universities provide for them. It also helps the students to contribute to their professional life as well. The dearth of quality employees in the country is significantly fulfilled with the contribution of the universities of the country. The university sector of the country also provides a huge scope of employment for the people of the country (Andrews et al., 2016). Therefore; the university sector of the country majorly controls the issues of unemployment. This is the reason why it is essential to continue this trend for this sector so that economic sustainability can be maintained in the country. In this regard, it would be important to identify all the factors that contribute to the growth in the number of students in the universities of Australia.
Therefore; through this report; the focus will be on assessing those factors which are essential on the growth in the number of students in the universities. The purpose is to understand the processes that the universities can apply to attract more international students. The relation of the increase in the number of international students in the universities of Australia with the economic growth of the country will also be analyzed through this research report. The analysis would be made with the use of essential methodologies, and subsequently, the risks and the timeline for the research will also be identified.
Research methodology:
The methodology part of the report will identify the essential techniques and research methods that will be used for analyzing the data for this research. Some qualitative data will be used from the primary and secondary resources, and the process of collection of those data will be discussed in the report. Then design and methods for this research will also be highlighted in details.
Research approach:
Throughout this research, the inductive approach will be used. This will help in the generation of different theories related to the research topic. The inductive approach will be based on the observation of the data that will be collected from the primary and the secondary resources (Alase, 2017). This would help in analyzing the data in details, and useful findings can be extracted from those data as well.
Research design:
This research will follow two models which are descriptive and exploratory. This means that detailed data will be used and those data will be explained to derive relevant meaning related to the research topic. The use of both designs will be useful for collecting the detailed data and then for analyzing those data with perfection.
Research method:
For conducting this research, it will be essential to collect and assess some detailed data. This is the reason why qualitative data will be utilized for answering the research questions that have been formed. Qualitative data will be descriptive and will be based on the perceptions of the participants who will be chosen for the interviews (Nassaji, 2015). Qualitative data would also be extracted from various literature resources, and those will be descriptive as well. Those data will be based on theories and the reality of the current situation in the sector of the university in Australia. The qualitative method would be appropriate for the research question due to the fact that the research questions cannot be adequately answered with the use of quantitative data. Rather than statistics and numbers, it would be essential to understand the problems and the requirements in details. This would help in analyzing the primary intention of the research with success and will also be aligned with the research objectives.
The qualitative data would be used with the help of the interviews that will be conducted with the participants. The participants will be human resource manager from 5 reputed universities. Questionnaires will be developed for doing the interview session with the participants (Brace, 2018). Therefore; it is expected that the answers would be in details and would help in deriving some essential clues from the research questions that have been prepared. The discussions about the research tools and techniques and the issues that will be asked will be highlighted in details in the next section.
Tools and techniques for the research:
As identified in the previous section, qualitative data will be used, and questionnaires will be prepared for an interview with the participants. Therefore; 5 questionnaires will be developed for these participants. The questions will be based on the research objectives and will also help in collecting detailed data. In the process of making the questions, it will be kept in mind that the questions would be relevant for meeting with the purpose of this research. It will also be ensured that the items would be aligned with the theories that will be collected from the secondary resources. For compiling the data, Nvivo tool will be used, and this tool will be helpful for the collection of the qualitative data (Houghton, 2017). The participants will be interviewed face to face and separately. This will also help in maintaining the privacy of the interview. Further, these data will be used for sampling and subsequently for analysis.
The five questions and their significance for this research are:
- According to your perception, what are the main factors that are essential for the University to follow in the process of attracting international students?
- What are the social factors that your university keep in mind in the process of attracting international students?
- How your university has contributed to increasing employment in this sector?
- What are your perceptions of the fact that the university sector of Australia impacts hugely on the growth of the economy of the country?
- How has your university contributed to providing skilled employees for the industries in the country?
- What are the processes do you think would be necessary for increasing the number of international students at the university?
These are some of the important questions which would be necessary for understanding the current scenario in the university sector of Australia in terms of attracting international students. These questions can be considered as significant as the objectives have been considered, and it is expected that the research questions will be answered with the help of the questions that will be asked to the participants.
In the case of collecting the data from the secondary resources, the importance will be given on aligning the objectives with the main topics. The primary considerations in case of receiving the secondary data are:
- Analysis of the current state in the Universities of Australia in terms of the contribution to the economic growth of the country.
- Report on the factors that are important for the universities of Australia for attracting more foreign students
- Analysis of the social factors that are important for the universities of Australia for attracting more international students
- Identifying the processes which the universities of Australia can follow to attract more foreign students
- Analysis of the future contribution from the universities of Australia for the economic growth of the country.
Therefore; these data can help in analysing the purpose of the research in a better way.
Tools and techniques for data sampling:
After collecting the data, the next process will be to sample the data with perfection. In this regard, it will be essential to use a proper sampling technique. For this research study, a simple random sampling technique will be used, and this technique will be used for the purpose of collecting and analyzing the data from all the participants (Rahi, 2017). There will include five samples, and the data will be further explained with the use of the secondary data.
Tools for data analysis:
After the end of the sampling, the next step will be to analyze the data. As it is identified earlier, Nvivo tool will be used for the process for data analysis. With the use of this tool, it will be possible to use the qualitative data and then, analyze each of the samples with perfection (Zamawe, 2015). In the process of data analysis, importance will be given on understanding the linkage of the primary data with the secondary ones.
Research Limitations:
In the process of conducting the data analysis, the only issue is regarding the presence of limited data. It would have been useful if the volume of the data and the number of participants were higher. However; due to the limited budget, the limited data will be used for the research.
Project management:
Resources for the research project:
The funds for this research project involve some essential tools and the sources from where the data would be extracted. In this regard, the secondary resources are the online articles, and for primary data analysis, Nvivo has been selected as an efficient tool.
