Impact of Leadership Style on Patient Quality and Safety Issues
Safety in the delivery of healthcare is vital in every healthcare institution (Chaboyer and Bergman, 2019). One of the safety issues in my working environment is Diagnosis Error, which is a common challenge and malpractice, which is faced in hospitals (Macrae, 2019). The patient’s diagnosis is vital to make the patient receive proper medication. Through transformational leadership, diagnosis can be made properly. Medication errors are another safety concern that is crucial management of the patients. This issue is primarily caused by communication errors between the patient and the caregiver or pharmacist and the patient. Transformational leadership, therefore, can solve these errors by ensuring that proper medication and support is provided. Through the follow-up channels designed in transformational leadership, medication errors are reduced exponentially.
Quality is also another aspect of crucial importance in healthcare provision (Chaboyer and Bergman, 2019). Patient satisfaction is one of the quality measures that prove that there is a desired care provision. The patients feel better when they are appropriately handled, and they give a response due to satisfaction. The patient’s assessment feedback in transformation leadership provides feedback analysis to ascertain patient satisfaction. Technological assessment is another facet of quality care (Macrae, 2019). Through the use of modern technology, the patient’s diagnosis and treatment are efficient. It gives an easy way to treat the patients and monitoring of the critical patients. The patients show a higher preference for advanced health care systems to those with less technology.
It is evident that transformational leadership positively impacts the safety and quality issues above. Transformational leadership, therefore, considers all the factors to be part of the healthcare provider. It thus supports the implementation of the desired quality and safety issues that are key in the preferred institution. Transformational leadership is change-oriented, and therefore it is essential in the institutions to improve the safety and quality issues.
