Additionally, the company is also able to control and coordinate the flow of information between different departments (IBM). Therefore, the organizational structure of IBM can be considered to be a functional and decentralized structure. In this form of organization, different departments and management levels are encouraged to contribute their ideas as a way of promoting innovation and strengthening the organization. The mission statement supports the firm to improve its advantage in the marketplace by focusing on innovation and increasing the supply of the products. Also, by utilizing the growth strategy, the company can exercise product diversification where it offers different products such as spare parts of computers, hardware, and software (Lambardo, 2018). The market penetration strategy has helped the organization to achieve recognition in the international market, which is essential in improving the competitive advantage. It is through the organizational structure that allows the stuff to come up with different ideas that the company can develop and utilize the various strategies that promote its success.

The short-term goal of IBM is to sell the old stock of computers and accessories to its customers in America and different parts of the world. Also, the company aims at maintaining constant customer satisfaction in its daily transactions. On the other hand, the long term goal of the company is to be committed to developing a diverse environment that will bring about diversity in the global market as the firm strives to engage the key market segments (Lambardo, 2018). In addition, the company focuses on becoming the leader in creating, developing, and manufacturing the most advanced information technologies.

The company can improve its strategy, mission, and organizational structure by undertaking a SWOT analysis (Rowland, 2017). This approach will help the company to determine its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats which will help the organization to be more alert on any changes in its operations. Moreover, IBM should carry out a performance trend analysis. In this way, the firm will be able to use previously collected data to determine the performance trend of the company and also identify areas of improvement.

In conclusion, the mission of IBM is to satisfy the requirement of their customers. The organizational structure of the firm allows every department to contribute their ideas, which are essential in the development of the organization. The positive aspect of the strategy and the mission statement is to bring about diversity, which is crucial in achieving competitive advantage. The short term goal of the company is to clear the old stock of computers systems and other devices whereas the long term objective is to be the leading manufacturer of the most advanced information technology in the world. Finally, the company can improve its mission, strategy, and organizational structure through undertaking a SWOT analysis and performance trend analysis.
