Importance of Effective Communication in Nursing
Question one
Even though the supervisor was unaware of the students’ level of experience in health caregiving, he assigned the student the duty of handling a client in a wheelchair. The student did not inform the supervisor about his lack of experience in healthcare giving. The student in the process of placing the client’s feet on the footrest, he hurts the client’s feet. The student assumes his feeling about on duty assigned to him caused the patient an injury on the leg. The miscommunication between the supervisor and the student led to the damage to the client’s leg.
The student could have informed the supervisor on his minimal experience he/she had on dealing with patients on a wheelchair; further the student was to give the client time to explain what feeling he/her had on the injured leg this could have made successful nursing care for the client
Question two
Proper communication protects patients from the possibilities of injuries. The misunderstanding in communication between clients and the nursing body can bring about health damages to the clients. Nevertheless, the patients are allowed time to explain in a proper understanding of the nurse the feelings to bring up successful care in nursing. Miscommunications between the colleagues may also lead to serious harm to clients; there should be a good understanding between the nurses and the involved colleagues for the successful handling of clients without any damage to either the nurse or the clients.
Newly posted nurses should be given time to adapt and learn how to handle clients with a lot of understanding that entails proper communication skills and health handling techniques.
