Importance of Fiction in School

Fictional stories that the creative narratives created for kids to exist them learn and enjoy themselves. Fictional stories are important in educating kids and developing a successful life. The role of fictional stories is to educate, entertain, and develop the children’s ability to read and interpret stories. Through fictional stories, the kids can sharpen their intellect and build their knowledge. The schools and the family members should make sure that children access these books and that they help them read and interpret. The school is the greatest institution in which the kids can access multiple fictional stories. There is a need for the Fox Field High school to purchase more fiction. The existing are not enough, and students compete to access the books.

The benefits of fiction include the ability to make the child’s mind attach itself to the characters of the fiction-making act and behave like the characters. The fiction stories will always have the hero and the villain (Garro 2014). Every child wishes to be a morally upright hero. In the story of ‘The Juniper tree,’ everyone learns that being mean is bad, and the reader sympathizes with the boy who is killed (Zipes 2003). The fictions help child view the world in an improved perspective by understanding how everything came to be. Having more books in which the child learns different values can help the society to create an upright society.

Elif Shafak, through ‘The politics of fiction,’ argues that fictional stories allow a person to widen their imagination and avoid cultural walls created through identity politics (TED, 2010). Fictions can, therefore, help individuals overlook the unfair society since they give them hope that they can build their society based on good politics. According to Elif, a story is more than a narrative since it allows the reader to view to interact with the character and avoid the ideas that exist the society against different situations. In a cruel society, the child will sympathize with the individual who is unfairly treated, thus making them assess the relationships and the treatments they have with other people.

Fictions help the children to become liberal in their thoughts. The stories and books help children become open-minded, curious, and creative. For example, a child who will read ‘Awesome Dawson’ will view waste materials as productive materials that can be used to solve different life problems just like Dawson used his skills to fight the aliens (Bush, 2013). Fiction books can help children to identify things that make hem human and can reduce the work that the teachers and the parents have in helping them understand life. The school should, therefore, buy more fictions in the upcoming year to allow every child to learn, get entertained, and develop skills through creativity and positive thinking.
