Importance of Nursing Theory
Nursing theory is the building blocks of nursing practice today. It is significant since it helps to determine nursing practices that are known and the additional skills and knowledge that are required. Nursing theory is in changing healthcare policies such as the change theory (Kaakinen et al., 2018). Nursing theory has numerous importance, especially in changing healthcare policies.
Nursing theory helps nurses to articulate nursing evidences on the methodologies behind what they do. Several theories provide knowledge and concepts related to care. Such knowledge enables those in the nursing practice to explain what they do and reason for doing it (Ortiz, 2020). The knowledge is used in defining healthcare policies based on the decision and action that are taken to achieve a given healthcare goal.
The theory also helps in shaping the parameters of patient care delivery. The concept of nursing has a linear focus because of the emergence of nursing theory. For example, the Child Health Assessment Interaction Theory, it emphasizes the importance of caregiver and the environment which directly influence the relationship between the parent and the infant (Ortiz, 2020). All these parameters can be used to change policies that enhance the strong relationship between parent and infant.
