Dear Sir/Madam,
It is no coincidence that I studied Psychology. I have always been fascinated by how the mind works and curious to learn the various approaches towards understanding human behavior, mental health, and how socioemotional and sociocultural experiences can impact both. In my studies, I realized that although I am passionate about research, I am curious about how Psychology and Biology intersect in day to day life. It is this curiosity, combined with my knowledge and appreciation for the role of nurses in the medical community, that brought me to the decision to pursue a career in nursing.
My experience as a volunteer at Sharp Memorial Hospital also helped me to realize I wanted to become a nurse. During this period, I learned how to offer care by assisting nurses to apply bandages on minor cuts and bruises. I also noticed that nursing employs both humanistic and physiological approaches to treating patients. Nursing will, therefore, allow me to apply my psychological skills to provide quality care.
As a Referral Coordinator and Practice Coordinator at UCSF Pediatric, I have also developed skills for career advancement. I am tasked with facilitating referral and transportation of at least 20 patients daily through telephone calls and messages. I also answer queries from referral physicians and patients to manage care. During this period, I have been recognized as a dedicated, reliable, and highly motivated individual who can work without supervision. These skills will enable me to not only provide medical care but also become an educator and leader in this field that is forever growing.
Nursing is the right choice for me, as it is a challenging field that requires and combines a variety of skill sets. It is a profession where there is always something new to learn, and as someone who is always striving to learn more, I appreciate this opportunity for constant growth. While some may begin with a projected plan for the direction of their nursing careers, I am excited about entering the field and allowing my development to lend itself to new directions and grow organically. I look forward to hearing from you and would love an opportunity to explain my passion and skills further.
Sincerely,
