Individualized Education Planning is where teachers, support personnel, and parents work together as a team to meet the individual needs of the students who require a range of support. Evaluation becomes an essential begging step in special education. The child’s disability that was used includes deaf-blindness, autism, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, and intellectual disability, which based on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

A meeting was held to determine the child’s eligibility for special education and related services. Therefore, the specialists that were involved in the child assessment will be required to explain and provide explanations on why they used the evaluation. The child must, therefore, from the assessment meet the laws that are required for a child with a disability, which means that he/she has one of the listed disabilities in the law.

The data gathered from parents include, whether their son/daughter has a particular category of disability so as to be included for assessment and also the type of the disability to help in determining the type of educational needs the child may need. The child’s school performance was also gotten from the parents. That is how the child is currently doing in school and the academic development needs. Also, the professional adults had some data, such as if the child requires modifications in special education.

There were various instruments that were used in gathering information to determine eligibility. They included structured clinical interviews, systematic observations, behavior checklists, and self-report. These various instruments were incorporated to ensure that the child is assessed for eligibility without any form of discrimination and ensure that no child with a disability is closed out of the assessment. Such was done after obtaining enough information.
