Industrialization, Urbanization, and Immigration
During the 19th century, a lot of industrialization and urbanization happen that led to immigration. Through industrialization, many factories were opened to manufacture different commodities. By opening the manufacturing and processing factories, many people were employed to work in the factories since not many machines were developed then. The people’s lives were improved from lower class to middle class and even some to the elite level in stratification systems in society. Revenue of the area was also increased due to the industrial activities that happened. An increase in industrialization also led to a rise in both invention and innovation, which led to different commodities being made in different ways and even making the existing products better. Industrialization also made room for more companies to grow and develop due to the economic empowerment and new-found knowledge. The increased immigration brought about by industrialization also provided adequate labor for the factories and the upcoming companies. Industrialization also led to an increase in productive competition with other countries, which led to a rise in employment and, therefore, a general increase in revenue, which helped put the United States in its current economic position and among the big five in the world.
Increased industrialization in different areas of the country led to cities like New York to be developed. Many people from other regions and even the world, in general, got to learn of the areas and also went to trade there. Social amenities such as good roads had to be constructed to facilitate the trade and allow smooth movement of both goods and the traders from one point to another and reduce the chances of delay that may be caused by bad roads. Electricity and water supply in the areas also had to be increased to run the machines efficiently. Urbanization in many regions was therefore necessitated by urbanization. Schools and hospitals were also put up in such areas to cater to the needs of the traders. The sewerage systems and better sanitation methods were also put in place. Better means of disposing of the waste materials like gases and smoke that were being emitted by the factories were put in place to protect the environment from pollution. Many other better ways of production and manufacture of eco-friendly commodities were also being developed, which is led by urbanization.
Immigration was also caused by increased urbanization and industrialization. Development of areas such as New York and the increase in business in these areas led t an increase in the people moving to these areas. The economic state of the regions led to many people being attracted to the city for economic growth. People from other areas and countries, therefore, immigrated to the fields for better living conditions and facilities brought about by immigration and urbanization. Innovation and invention made the cities like New York to be known for more than just agricultural products but also its industrialized and urbanized state and therefore drawing many people to it for the better schools, hospitals and better facilities in general. The United States, thus, started receiving many immigrants from all over the world who were in search of greener pastures and due to the increase in economic activities brought about by both industrialization and urbanization.
