INTERFACE EXPERIENCE COMPARISON OF TABLET PC’S
Description of Tablets
This investigation report will focus on the functionality comparison between an android tablet and a non-android tablet. The android tablet under review was a Samsung tablet S7 plus. The features included an android v10 (Q) operating system, Random Access Memory of 6 GB, internal storage of 128 GB, and Octa-core processor. The non-android tablet under review was Microsoft Surface Pro 6 tablet. The feature of the tablet included Windows 10 Home operating system, Random Access Memory of 16GB, storage of 128 GB, and Intel Core i7 processor.
Purpose of the Tablets
The main purpose for Samsung Tablet S7 plus was to enhance the quality picture in video conferencing. While for Microsoft Surface Pro 6 tablet, was to aid individuals in doing their office work easily at any location. It is also essential while taking notes since one can use a surface pen to take notes.
Intended User Population and Functions
The main target market for Samsung Tab S7 was people who want to have easy access to video conferencing. The main target market for the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is office professionals who can easily use the tablet to their advantage whenever they want to work from.
My Experience with the Tablets
I performed three tasks on the two tablets; the first task was to measure the time in which the same application opened in each tablet. The second task was to open the same browser, and I searched the Amazon website; I recorded the amount of time taken by each tablet to open the website. The third and final task that I performed on both tablets is the quality of pictures that each tablet was able to take. The main focus was the selfie camera, and I managed to take three pictures on each table from different angles of a room.
What I liked about the Tablets
According to the results obtained from the three tasks performed on the devices, Samsung Tab S7 took the shortest period of time to open an application compared to Microsoft Surface Pro 6. On the second task of opening the Amazon website at the same time, Samsung Tab S7 loaded the website compared to the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 tablet. Therefore, on the speed of opening a website, Samsung Tab S7 was more efficient. Finally, on the third task of taking a selfie photo in three different locations in a room, the photos captured by Samsung Tab S7 tablet were clearer compared to the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 tablet. Therefore, Samsung Tab S7 is the most preferred device for taking selfie photos. Generally, I was impressed with the performance and quality of the Samsung Tab S7. Since it was more reliable and efficient when performing tasks.
What I Didn’t Like about the tablets
Microsoft Surface Pro 6 was lagging behind in terms of the tasks performed compared to the Samsung Tab S7. Moreover, the photos captured on Microsoft Surface Pro 6 didn’t meet my expectation.

Gulf of Execution
It is the degree of ease that someone who is using a device can easily understand the current state of the system.
Taking of selfies using Samsung Tab S7 and Microsoft Surface Pro 6 tablet was much easier. Moreover, the comparison between the quality of pictures was easily detected.
Gulf of Evaluation
It is the level at which a system gives a representation that someone can interpret in terms of a user’s expectation and intentions.
Both the tablets had a maximum degree of ease, therefore, making it easier for me to understand if the action being performed is successful or not. In the opening of an application using the tablets, they both pop up showing that the applications are opening. However, the timing was different. While opening the Amazon website, both the tablets indicated the process in which the sites were opened using a bar. Therefore, it made it easier to understand the process and the speed in which the tablets were opening the tablet.
Mental Models
It offers an explanation of the thinking of someone in relation to how something works in the real world.
The perception before using the two tablets was that the Samsung Tab S7 was better than the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 tablet. From the task performed on the two tablets, Samsung Tab S7 came out as the best tablet according to my expectations.

It is the appropriate arrangement of information about a given device.
The features of the tablets were well illustrated. Hence the ease to pick which tablets to be used for the comparison.
Semantic Distance
Semantic distance is defined over a set of terms; the thought of distance between items basing on the likeness of the meaning of items.
Both the devices used in the interface experience are both tablets. Moreover, they can also be used in opening browsers and taking of selfies.
Articulatory Distance
It gives a reflection of the relationship between the physical form of an expression in the interaction language and its meaning.
Both the tablets had Cameras. Therefore, using the cameras provided a description that was linked to the features of the tablets on the quality of the cameras. Hence, Samsung Tab S7 ending up with the best photos basing on the features on its description about the camera.
Affordance
Affordance is the properties that show the possible actions a user can take towards a given object. Hence, coming with alternatives on how they may interact with the object.
The tablets offered the description that they can have access to the internet. Hence, the urge to use the browsers in both tablets to measure the speed used in opening sites in each tablet.
Cognitive Load
It is the used amount of working memory resources.
Samsung Tab S7 was much faster compared to Microsoft Surface Pro 6; therefore, showing a higher possibility that Samsung Tab S7 had a higher working memory compared to Microsoft Surface Pro 6.
Suggestions for Improvements to the Tablets
There is a need for the manufactures of Microsoft Surface Pro 6 to increase its performance speed. In doing so, it will help in increasing the speed of the tablet. There is a need for the manufacture of Samsung Tab 7 to upgrade the photo quality for a better experience than the current.
