Introductory Abstract
Human possessions and welfare are the most important tools in an effective care system of any country. Health care workers contribute to the country’s gross domestic product by a greater percentage, and their performance requires serious motivational arsenals. Therefore, motivation or performance influence can be defined as the extent of ones’ interest in keeping more efforts in his or her work to achieve an organizational objective. Motivation has a close relationship to work gratification, which tends to keep workers very intact in their field of work for a long period. Caring for health care workers by ensuring their satisfactory and motivational levels are of good standards, promotes the smooth run of the care system. This paper examines, attests, and evaluates the motivation enhancement facets, effective leadership techniques towards motivating workers, and worker’s experiences on little leadership and dysfunctional working environment.
Motivation approaches should be based on holistically addressing healthcare multifaceted problems. The strategies to be used are as follows; Provision of prospects for occupation growth, effective concern on appropriate compensation schemes, and promotion of favorable working environment, which involves sympathetic management with a better understanding of career development space as a precarious motivating aspect on health care workers. The comprehension of career progression space enables practitioners to have easy adaption to any emerging issues and changes in the health sector within their society.
The provision of more job opportunities within the health sector based on either managerial positions or capability of learning new concepts serves as a central sign of contract contentment; workers will strive to perfect their area of occupation and study, thus promoting the employees’ permanence positively (Gagnuer, 2019). Obligations of health workers in the jobs are promoted by career formation. If the organization can directly take part in the provision of career planning programs, it increases the morale and loyalty of workers, which encourages the retention of determined recruits. The introduction of modern medical equipment, availability of water, and sanitation system provides favorable working conditions for health workers, which makes them have their jobs at heart, thus improving their performance (Diltopo, 2013). Insurance programs, medical gears, tax holidays, positivity in leadership management also make medics feel more secured and valued, and therefore, they remain committed in their duties, thus increasing the organizational efficiency and productivity.
Good and well-oriented leadership plays a vital role in the successful operation of any organization, and most particularly in the healthcare sector. The leaders are part and parcel of the motivating programs in the health care system as they encourage and inspire their colleges to meet high concert criteria. This can be achieved by adopting transformational leadership methods, which provides favorable working conditions as the leaders involve all staff in pursuing the organizational goals jointly (Pearson, 2020). This leadership method is postulated from the transformational theory, which often describes the leadership style as ‘elevating’ or stimulating. According to the theory, transformational leadership is based on servant leadership, which embraces the exhibition of compassions and promotion of similar traits amongst the staff associates.
Implementation of transformational leadership helps in promoting the efficiency of medical staff as well as overall work satisfaction. It also humanizes the working environment as the leaders takes the leading position in creating commitments that supports a strong relationship with their colleges. The leaders should take part in developing strategies that promote collaboration in terms of statement and leadership concepts. The transformational leaders portray passionately and positivity on other workers’ opinions and concerns as they also give the ordinary staffs to air out their views when making decisions, and supports members in building the innovation (Neo, 2016). The transformed leaders also act as a role model to other staff, and this makes medics to have confidence and trust in the organization as they seem to be very satisfied in all perspectives, thus improving the productivity and efficiency of the organizational output.
The working conditions at my place of work are dysfunctional, with very little leadership that leads to problems here and there at the time of work. I work for a state-run long-term care facility for the mentally ill, with two people in my department, the dental department, working closely with the nursing ad medical department. We provide rehabilitative, restorative, and skilled nursing care to patients as well as residents in need of our assistance with the day to day living activities.
A day came when the medical and nursing departments had many patients than normal times to assist with their daily treatments. The dental department never has a lot of work compared to the latter; thus we had to give a hand in some way for if not, there would come up with a disaster in our medical facility. With the little leadership in our place of work, I felt the need to use my decision-making skills and present my creativity at work for a resolution to be made. I had to think of the medical decision-making skill I had learned in my course study.
I took charge and asked one of my colleagues to remain in our department office as the two of us left for the medical department. The problem was inducing treatment to the patients on time, and due to lack of enough personnel, we had to come in. We generated initial hypotheses and tested the hypotheses against data that had been obtained via diagnostic tests before and defined the correctness of the tests. With the decision analysis, we were able to come up with what drug was needed for which patient at that time and managed to induce the treatments to the patients on time. The experience made me feel empowered to use my decision-making skills greatly. Conclusively, motivation and inspiration of workers plays a vital role in improving the organizational output, and therefore, when transformational leadership is implemented, then motivation and inspiration of workers will be experienced at higher standards.
