Job Application’s Chapter Review
Introduction
According to research, before acquiring a job, a person must undergo a writing section independent of if the application is getting done through the company’s website, sending a formal letter and resume through mail or even replying to a LinkedIn post. However, the applicant must write words which captures the interest of the organization and shows a better match for the position. Hiring companies check for nonacademic technical-communication skills. From the context, we learn that an applicant must at most understand the job-application materials. The next thing to consider is to check your professional brand. It is essential to identify what employers want. Organizations need honesty, competent and skilled people to employ. Nonetheless, a job applicant must put across an excellent resume for his or her application (Koenig, 2020).
Evaluation
First, we learn from the chapter the ideology that most hiring executives checks for nonacademic communication skills. All employees must first pass a writing test. Understanding the job application process is a significant strategy which involves paying massive attention to the writing process. The application resume must be exemplary written, edited, revised and proofread. The writer of the chapter documents the ideologies in a flowing manner which makes it understandable to me. Generally, I am amused by the brand establishment part. It connects that an applicant should first speculate what the employers want before making moves (Schaufeli, 2017).
Moreover, we all agree that organizations are looking for honest, hardworking, competent and skilled staffs who can deal with technical problems. I learned that an employee should study on the way to display these qualities on their professional brand. I agree with the chapter author that, a person should only tell the truth in their applications. Trying to reveal a significant number of accomplishments in your career and past experiences are the best ideology to apply in job applications. The most exciting part of the chapter is on the ethic note. The author is against lies and exaggerations done on resumes. The hiring team performs online research on the applicant, and if they find any discrepancies, they fail to hire them to their team.
In conclusion, if you want to perform a job application online, you must first display your best credentials on your online platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn (Waddell, 2018). Create a resume which matches the organization guidelines of the hiring companies. However, we learn that the base of getting hired by any company is strengthened in writing, whatever we put down discloses who we are and creates our chances of getting hired. Generally, I would recommend this chapter to anybody starting their technical writing journey.
