Journal 3: Talent
Question 11
If I had a talent that I do not now possess, it would be painting. I have always admired beautiful art and paintings. I have always thought of artistry as a noble profession, one that adds flavour and spice to life, and can act as a vast collection of humanity’s journey through time. When I think of art and painting, I remember some of the world’s most magnificent paintings, such as ‘Mona Lisa’ and ‘The Last Supper’, which have strongly shaped the world’s history. For instance, it is only through paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci that we have been able to get a glimpse of the culture, experience, and medieval times in Europe.
Paintings are rich in meaning and culture depending on the painter, and they enable us to venture into a painter’s unknown world full of creativity, mystery, and beauty. I have always wanted to be a painter because I believe that it would afford people the chance to glimpse into my mind and perceive the beauty therein. If I were a painter, I think I would have much to offer the world, especially in terms of the limitless possibilities that our beautiful and remarkable life has to offer. I would have especially loved paintings on nature and the ocean, as a beautiful appreciation of mother earth, and as sensitization on the need to care for our environment.
