An interview is a form of the method of obtaining information by the researcher or the person who needs such information. The parties that are involved are in the interviewer and the interviewee. Needless to say, there is needed to have proper preparation so that the interview is fruitful and beneficial. Watching the video shows some of the technology that the interview uses so that he can obtain the crucial information concerning his subject of research. The interview gets information by asking questions that make the interview provide the information. The kinds of questions that the interviewer asks are open-ended type of questions. In this case, the interviewee is provided with an opportunity to give all the information without restricting himself. By using open-ended questions, the interviewee may give more information that the interviewee may not be requiring. It is, therefore, the work of the interviewer to provide to filter information and get what he wants. In addition, the interviewer is very attentive and does not interrupt the interviewee when communicating. This provides ample time for the interviewee to provide a chronological order of information. The interviewer maintains eye contact with the interviewee throughout the interview process. This is a form of assuring the interviewee that one is listening and hence boosts his morale to continue communicating.
The interview in the video is very successful, and this was due to another of things. To begin with, the interviewer was well prepared for the interview. He had mastered well the interview subject with was about the book that the interviewee has written describing an athlete whom he had trained and achieved a lot of success. Reading the book by the interviewer ensured that he had all the information he required, and the interview was just about clarifications. In addition, he had a well-structured interview in terms of the flow of questions. In the interview, it is evident that one question and response led to the next one with one information left. This can only be achieved if the questions are well-formed. In fact, the interview has the questions memorized so that they just come automatically. This boosts confidence for both parties to communicate and achieve their objectives. As an interviewer, one has to be clear and specific. The questions that were being asked by the interviewer were clear, and there is not time that the interviewee requested for repetition or clarification before answering. This makes the interviewer create a good rapport and cordial relationship between him and the interviewee. Creating confidence makes it possible for the smooth running of the interview. Another important aspect of holding a successful interview is the level of audibility. The interviewer must be audible enough so that the interviewer is able to understand the questions being asked hence responding correctly. The environment in which the interview takes place has to be ideal so that there is proper concentration by both the interviewee and the interviewer. Concluding remarks is also another important aspect that an interviewer has to take into account. Thanking the interviewee makes them feel that they are appreciated and will be ready to give more information if required in the future.
