Political parties hinder my engagement in politics because of their partisan nature and the unfulfilled promises by politicians. However, interest groups encourage political participation as they provide a convenient platform for citizens to participate in politics. For instance, the Tea Party protests provided the citizens with a platform to offer their views and present their opposition to government control.
The system of checks and balances has, in some cases, been used for political and partisan reasons. The Senate has the authority to impeach the President, to initiate constitutional amendments and control over courts, which provides various checks and balances to the executive. They have the power to pass sunset provisions. These are laws passed by Congress that have an expiration time. Thus, these provisions make bureaucrats accountable for their actions (Spaulding 12). Therefore, for a specific program to continue past its particular time, the body must prove that the specific application can efficiently attain its goals.
Yes. I like interacting with and knowing other cultures and beliefs. In my opinion, there is no primitive culture, as cultural beliefs are morally relative. The concept of relativism is wrong due to its claim that every culture has its unique and equally valid thought, choice, and thoughts. Moral relativism contrasts the absolutist notion that the truth is objective and universal, and thus, there is no anything like absolute wrong or right. Every society is governed by a specific ethical code which could be inviolate.
