Kalief’s Plea bargain
I believe that kalief’s decision not to accept the plea bargain was the best decision that he made since his arrest was a kind of confusion and had been innocently jailed after being arrested in the streets with the friends. Also, the time he spent in jail was long enough to prove his innocence against the crimes accused of, and he could not have taken a plea bargain for what he did not commit. Given that the prosecutor has the power to decide at the time, the plea bargain may not be the best decision to make as it falls on the lack, and I could have refused as well to take the plea bargain if I was him as well. It is since it all falls on chances and the evidence against the crime having no weapon. In the same circumstances that kalief was arrested, taking a plea bargain demonstrates that you are guilty over the accusations.
Other issues in the cases include the lack of the speed trials evidenced by the fact that kalief had to spend more than 33 months in jail to face his judges despite being innocent. It had to take long to make the decision. Being a student, the life spent in jail affected him, and the dreams leading to the tragic outcome of a lost life as the dreams of the young individual are affected. Thus, it separates them from what they dreamed of and what they turn to after jail sentence. I think the black lives matter to this case is relevant based on the race discrimination surrounding the situations where police brutality is experienced against the blacks and are judged or arrested for crimes that they have not committed.
