- Cat Ladder Fort
You need a wooden step ladder, hammer, nails, sisal rope, a small cat bed, non-toxic wood glue, rug/mat, and a cat wand toy.
Instructions:
- Use sisal rope to wrap the legs of the ladder and fasten the ends of the rope using nails.
- Make squares equal to the size of each step by cutting the rug/mat. Use wood glue to fix the rug onto the steps.
- Glue the cat bed to the top step using wood glue
- Cut off the feather portion of the cat wand toy and fix it to the top step below the bed you attached in the previous step using wood glue.

If you don’t have the time to give your cat a rubbing session, a self-made scratcher will do the trick. You can quickly fix the scratcher anywhere around the house.

- Cat Repellent for Furniture
You can train your cat to stay off the couch or other furniture by placing carpet protectors on their favorite spot with the pricky side facing up. After a while, the cat will come to associate the furniture with discomfort. It will soon find a much cozier spot and leave the couch to you. You can buy plastic carpet protectors from any office supply store or home centers. Cut the protector into convenient sizes using a utility knife or scissors. Don’t forget to remove the protector from the couch before sitting down.
- Remove Cat Hair with Duct Tape
Did you know you can use duct tape for cleaning? Well, you can. Since the duct tape is sticky, it can make a perfect cat hair remover when cleaning around the house. This method is even quicker than vacuuming. You can also use it to clean your car seats. Wrap the tape around a paint roller cover with the sticky side facing out. Just like in painting, roll to collect cat hair from your furniture or car seat. You can wrap the duck tape around a cloth or sponge when cleaning corners. Roll more tape whenever necessary.

Take a plastic storage container and use a plate to trace an opening on one end. Using strong scissors or razor, carefully cut out an opening and pour in the litter. Although not fancy, this method is cheap and effective.
- Protect Your Doors from Scratches
Cover your doors with a sheet of plastic to protect it from your cat’s claws. Visit any home center and buy plastic or thinner Plexiglas or 1/8-in. Cut the sheet to ensure it fits inside the door jambs and is high enough to surpass your cat’s reach, preferably 1 ft. higher. You can use a straightedge or utility knife to cut the Plexiglas, but most home centers will be happy to do it for you. If the plastic extends above the doorknob, make a cutout for the knob using a 3-in hole saw. Use 3/4-in. roundhead wood screws to fix the plexiglass to the door.
- Make a cat toy from empty toilet roll
Even something as simple as an empty loo roll can transform into a cheerful toy for your cut. Stuff your cat’s favorite treats into an empty loo roll and push both ends of the cardboard inwards. Your cat will love trying to get into the roll, and you will have as much fun if not more watching them do it. You can also take a bunch of empty lool roll and place them into an empty shoe box. That will be enough to excite any curious kitty.
- Aluminum Foil Couch Saver
Other than the carpet protector, you can also use aluminum foil to keep your cat away from the couch. Cut a long piece of aluminum foil and spread it over the cushions. Cats hate the feel and sound on the foil under their feet, and they will jump off immediately.
- Fur Filter for cat Bathing
Washing your cat in the shower or bathtub is a recipe for a clogged drain. You can prevent the fur from getting into the drain using a mesh-type scrubbing pad. Use a bobby pin to fix the pad on the drain plate in a shower and squeeze two pads below the stopper from two sides in a bathtub. The pads will still allow the water to flow.
