King Lear’s fairytale
When looking at King Lear’s fairytale, one thing that comes to the mind is the lack of any moral lesson. However, this is the case there few lessons that can be learned from the work. It is evident that there is a hero in any situation. With this in mind, the focus of this analysis will be trying to unearth the real lesson that can be learned from King Leah.
One of the lessons is never to believe all that is in promises. One should not believe the words of others because of their face value.
There is the need to look beyond the superficial and to look beyond human face to unearth lies. King Lear made a mistake of listening to empty compliments from Gegan and Goneril. He was blind not to see the true lover his daughter Cornelia had towards him as her father.
The second lesson is the fact that there is always a hero, even in an unlikely situation. The honor, in this case, is taken by Cornelia. She scarified everything and took the minter of a typical female showing loyalty, love, and truthfulness towards her father. Cornelia made a decision not to participate in schemes and the manipulation by her father and sister. Although this was the case, her father considered this manipulation as a test which Cornelia failed terribly. To make her the hero, she scarified her life for the sake of her father. Only a hero can genuinely do this kind of act.
The last lesson is the fact that words which are not followed by actions are just a waste of time. King Lear demanded that his daughters profess their love for him. Wheat was to follow was the king dividing his kingdom between them. The two daughter exaggerated his with false praise. King Lear gave them a generous share of his kingdom. The third daughter refused to do this which made the king angry and send Cornelia to excel. Shortly after the two daughter alienates themselves from their father. The king is left without anything to his name as the only daughter who loved him was excelled. It is clear that if the king had more time maybe he would have realized that actions are better than empty words
Conclusion
It often said that human being always makes mistakes which the king did. This should be a moral lesson to all people to make wise decision and realize anger can never solve any crisis. If King Lear had listened to Cornelia his suffering would have been reduced. At the same time even the darkest moment in human life has a silver lining. It should be a lesson that manipulation can have serious consequences.
