Knowledge Development in Nursing
Thomas Kuhn was famous for his scientific evolution theory, and he invented terms such as paradigm shift and paradigm. Kuhn viewed a paradigm as all the theories, methods, and concepts that discipline of science ignores and influences research in the particular discipline (Pedagogue, 2018). Kuhn argued that science is nor critical. He insinuated that science is critical at only specific times. This leads to one paradigm replacing another in scientific research, thus paving room for research. On the other hand, Hegel argued that humans’ progression in history and science proceeds in an argumentative manner. Hegel’s idea has three sections: thesis, antithesis, and synthesis (Life, 2017). He argued that people hype truths that oppose each other until a balance is sought. This means various theories are put forward before people settle on one generally accepted report.
The philosophy of the mind is linked to Aristotle. This philosophy assumed that a person’s virtues are amongst two voices. A balance is created amongst the two vices. Aristotle was assured that humans could be able to create a well-defined balance amongst the two. This was known as Aristotle’s balance of moral behavior. In health care, this can be interpreted well. To offer care and promote healing and rest, one must be moral and pity the sick and suffering.
The practice of nursing incorporates various philosophies, such as those of professional work, therapy, and care (Kim, 2015). It is essential for us as health care workers to act morally hence enhancing a conducive environment for the healing of patients. We ought to communicate with the patients and our colleagues better to ensure that the care we offer is holistic, evidence-based, and patient-centered.
