Latin American history is deeply rooted and runs across a century as written and told by historians. However, when the account has summarized, the role of women will be given a big space for record. Women have played a pivotal role in shaping the history and influence in Latin America. Nevertheless, the women in Latino often have been subjected to discrimination and prejudice laced in gender, immigration, and racial factors. The U.S. foreign policy has been so stringent and stricter on Latin American immigration in the U.S. Recently, the Trump administration hinted at closing the U.S. borders with Mexico to control the influx of immigrants. The paper will address the direct impact of U.S. foreign policy on the Latinas touching on how women navigate gender discrimination and the labor condition in the U.S. and Mexico based on the few documentaries.

The immigration of Latinos into the U.S. is traced back to the beginning of the 19th century. Conversely, the reasons for the immigrant’s influx can be linked to the economic factors. Nevertheless, most people from Mexico move to the U.S. in such of greener pasture. About the documentary Made in L.A., a story is told of the three immigrants working in loss Angel Loss. The current U.S. and Mexico border was put in place after the U.S.- Mexican war that occurred towards the end of the 18th century. Subsequently, the U.S. foreign policy on Latin America was a subject of aggression in the last American presidential campaign in 2016 that saw Donald Trump get elected into the oval office. The Trump administration focused has been more of protecting the Americans borders and trade isolation with the rest of Latin America countries. The bilateral relationship has been dramatically affected by U.S. foreign policy adversely. The immigrants from South America are facing the adverse working condition laced with gender discrimination and the absolute prejudice. The two documentaries maquilapolis and made in L.A. narrates two scenarios of the stories on what the women immigrants working in the U.S. are facing in the hands of their employers.

The gender discrimination and its negative effect meted on women in different spheres have been subjected to a heated debate and discussion. Nevertheless, American and Mexico have been put in the spotlight for imposing women on severe marginalization in terms of gender equality. Generally, the Maquilapolis documentary focused on the struggles that women employees go through in the industry zone. The effort explained in the documentary can be linked to the U.S.- Mexico border issue. The female factory workers had to deal with the negative influence of gender discrimination, as explained in the Maquilapolis documentary.

However, in the documentary Made in L.A., a story is told of the three immigrants women working in the garment factory. The documentary depicts how the three women illegal immigrants where are vulnerable in the face of job loss and deportation. Nevertheless, one-woman Maria was unable to visit her children, fearing the deportation that would make her lose the job.  The other two women narrate their two different stories that made them fled their home countries in such of a quality life. The garment factory depends on the labor force from illegal immigrants. The three women faced a lot of discriminative gender influence in their quest for sustainability. The women embark on a journey to approach the cloth-making company to secure a chance to work at the factory. Also, the working system at the factory was unbearable. They were to work 10-14 hours in a day and more often denied chance even for eating. However, in both the documentary, a theme of poor working conditions is depicted throughout. The manoquipolis introduced activities that cause bodily injury to women in the form of a gesture that was to be used at the workplace.

The labor requirement by the illegal immigrants in the factories at the U.S. border and Mexico has always been under unfortunate circumstances of working laced with unpaid wages and poor working conditions. Under the Made in L.A. documentary, the three female Latino worked in poorly ventilated factories with a little salary that would often go unpaid. The factory facility was always locked risking their health. However, the Maquilopolis focused on how the factories at the border exploit their employees at expense of cheap labor. The single mother of three working at the factory was denied the severance package that is approved by the law. The working condition was unbearable and depicts a much of inhuman treatment. The film shows and narrates how the two women Carmen and Lourdes struggled with the labor disputes involving the foreign co-operation. The argument revolves around rotates around the effect of chemical spills left by the two international companies. Generally, it depicts the unsafe working condition that women face in their places of work. In summation, the gender discrimination and poor working condition have negatively impacted the lives of the illegal immigrants that move to the U.S. foreign policy towards the Latinos can be described as a self -centered in a manner that it is doe nor protect the right of Latinos in America.
