Letter of Motivation
After a rigorous 4-year graduate program at The Institute of Business Administration, I am now ready to pursue a specialized degree to truly excel in my academic field.
I belong to a big family of doctors and engineers, but ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to set foot in a different direction, one that has not been pursued yet. “What we learn with pleasure we never forget.” And so I set out to study business management in 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed the undergraduate program’s versatility. Studying subjects like human psychology, consumer behavior, economics, mathematics, creative writing, international relations, and computer alongside the conventional business courses was an enriching experience, one I much relished. It was only recently, and after studying all branches as well as gaining experience in different fields through my internships, that I made my mind to pursue a career in marketing. However, I strongly feel I need a specialized degree to excel in this field truly. I strongly think a master’s in management will give me the cutting edge to master this subject and advance both academically and professionally.
I am determined to pursue a master’s in management at Toulouse Business School due to several reasons. Toulouse Business School offers a two-year double degree program without any work experience requirement. This is an excellent opportunity for me to complete my academic path without any break. Given the CoViD-19 situation and the stagnant economies, having the chance to study without any time wastage is truly a blessing. I scouted plenty of universities for a master’s program, but what truly made me choose TBS was the considerate attitude of your admissions department that followed up my application so closely and took the time to call me and guide me throughout. The double degree program offers a rigorous blend of knowledge and hands-on experience, which is another great advantage because, by the time I finish my degree at TBS, I shall have a year’s worth on hands-on practical experience and international exposure. TBS is one of the finest business schools in Europe with remarkable French rankings and triple accreditations making it very attractive for an international student like me. It promises a lifetime opportunity to experience a starkly different culture, learn a new language, travel across Europe, and meet new people alongside a tremendous degree program rich in theoretical and practical knowledge.
Traveling has been a significant part of my life as I have been to 26 cities across nine countries and three continents. It certainly has had an impact on my personality, helping me broaden my perspectives, be more accepting of cultural differences as well as develop a strong passion for exploring more places and people. Studying at TBS is not just a great opportunity academically, but its presence in 5 locations is also an added attraction to continue my learning experiences outside school.
I’ve spent most of my university life living independently in the busy metropolitan city of Karachi. I have interviewed street hawkers as part of my price non-compliance project at British American Tobacco. I have taught the underprivileged students going into the slums during my experience at The Citizens Foundation. I have negotiated with wholesalers to set up my small business promoting locally produced women clothing called Luxe Beryl. I have supervised laborers during the reconstruction of my family-owned home. As a woman living in Pakistan, I feel incredibly fortunate to have had these practical experiences given the gender gap and precarious law and order situation in the country. These experiences taught me perseverance, grit, and hard work. At the same time, they instilled a sense of humility and empathy as I witnessed the working-class people put their blood, sweat, and tears to make ends meet. Over the years, these experiences have helped me build a personality that connects intellectually with the educated class and compassionately through shared experiences, with the working class. My ability to resonate with people’s experiences and to impart their confidence in me makes me proud. I believe I have the adaptability to manage and lead a diverse group of people, and this cultural richness is precisely what I shall bring to the MSc in Management program at TBS.
I have to achieve much; my burning ambition is far from satisfied. I have yet to embark on the journey to greatness. My story still lacks direction and purpose. I eagerly wait for the defining chapter of my story, one which I hope to inevitably find at your school.
