“New Life: A Table for Everyone.”, 2017
Roberto Lugo is a Philadelphia-based ceramic artist, born in Puerto Rico. In his artwork exhibition, “New Life; A table for everyone,” Lugo looks at the commonalities that people have irrespective of their cultural, social, or economic difference. According to him, when people search within, in retrospect, they will realize that though they are different, their diversities can serve to bring a productive conversation that eventually benefits both sides of the divide. Therefore, people should not focus on their limitations and despise themselves. Instead, they should appreciate one another, each in their uniqueness.

Gareth is a British Individual ceramist who strives to reveal the humanity of artists and the mystery of creation. His pieces of art are often described as “a making process that lasts for years.” This art is in a reflection of the multiple firings and glazing, which his work undergoes before gaining its perfection and durability. In looking within, his work of art demonstrates the shaping process that one goes through to gain credibility and trust that is timeless.

Cristina Tufino is a Puerto Rican based artist who creates sculptures inspired by red-light districts, fashion, and archaeology. Her artwork revolves around feminine objects and women’s world. In her Artwork “Dancing at The End of The World,” she presents flexing sculptures that symbolizes not just external aesthetics about women’s beauty, but something more profound than the obvious. This “inner lodge” gives every woman true meaning and elegance, which cannot be eroded by stereotypes, no matter where every woman is.

Patti Warashina is a Japanese/American born artist whose artworks are satirical and consists of clay figures placed in imagined environments which are taken from her fantasy. She uses sculpture to explore the human condition, feminism, car-culture, and political and social themes. One of her recent art is “Democracy on the Run.” Depicting US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Kim Jong and a twitter icon on top. Warashina, on “looking within,” epitomizes that our bodies are the closest resources from which ideas about life experiences can be drawn

“Building”
Mark Manders is a highly conceptual artist whose work of art has been under development since 1986. The artwork “Building” represents a fictional building plan filled with objects representing a fictional artist called Mark Manders. The fictional building constantly shifts following new ideas and conceptualization, which leads to the elimination of some items and the addition of new things. Within the context of the theme: “Looking within,” the artist’s art reflects the changes that people make as they learn and relearn new habits. This continuous process makes people adaptive to the ever-changing dynamic world.

Rebeka is an Interactive Ceramic Artist who employs fictional animals in her artwork to explore the narratives of life. She is interested in gender and how specific gender roles are assigned to women and girls in society. In her work “Memento Mori: Remember You Will Die,” she explores the idea that humans in considering their inner beings, can share the environment with all of nature’s wonders, and leave no harmful impact.
- Atmospheric Firing
Atmospheric firing involves different styles, such as saggar firing and pit firing. Necessarily, it entails the heating of clay, glazes, and air to the point that aviation has an impact on every vessel and how it turns out. This process involves both heat to very high temperatures as well as cooling, which produces excellently desired products according to the potter’s intention. Concerning the theme “looking within,” people are shaped to their best versions through processes that are both pleasant and painful. It’s the combination of the two that yields the best out of a person.
