Love according to Rumi entails numerous factors. It is an entity with strong thoughts entangled in a mind. To many who have experience in theology, the areas of specialization is far from love, thus do not teach love. However, love is understandably a feeling of kindness and gladness. For these reasons, there are concepts in people’s minds that are right and wrong and dominate the mind till death. Despite the existence of right and wrong, love is not limited by these aspects. For beginners, the situation is detrimental if they cannot set part the difference between a lover’s face and that one that scowls at them. Here, it requires experience or one ends up hurt and incapable of love. A person who jumps into love affairs without knowledge or experience is like blind man stubbing his feet and they are bound to get hurt. In this case, people need to master the art of love, be aware of what they are getting into rather than hump into unsafe waters blindly. There is a hindrance in the process of finding love because of the unclear signs which makes many unsure of their situation. Many elements in life give a direction to love the paths people lead are hints and they are bound to meet what matters to them the most. While on the right track, there is a possibility of being lured by other elements that are not associated with love. It is often a trap and misleads many. Some are lucky when they foolishly fall in love since that is the essence of life and they found it. Love is represented as an emperor and Rumi encourages people to love the soul rather than hold on to the body; a body dies.
Respect is used to refer to the refraining from regarding people in a particular manner. Kant’s theories about ethical behavior give respect another definition. Many contemporary theories and discussions tend to rely on Kant’s notions. Kant argues that all people deserve respect for being people. In other words, free rational being ought to be respected and no more reasons are awarded for such treatment. A person is a rational creature with a significant status compared to other beings in existence. The worth of being a person grants people dignity which is awarded the perfect response: respect. Awarding respect acknowledges someone’s good conduct and their attitude. For people like these, respect is paramount since they have morals. The principle of morality, Categorical Imperative requires people to show respect towards others. Many individuals tend to overlook the concept of a human being, giving them power to disrespect others, disregard them, and treat them with no value. Kant urges that respect should be awarded to all people for being rational beings. The fundamental moral role of human beings involves respect for others. Among many morally right actions that people conduct, respect is above all especially when addressing a fellow being. On the other hand, morally wrong actions tend to express disrespect, often have contemptuous and condescending attitudes towards others. Kant further argues that besides respect for others and self, there is a general commandment about morality with duties to follow. Addressing each other with dignity begets respect for both self and others. Human beings are priceless, far valuable and above all beings on earth and they deserve respect.
Part 2
Love and respect go hand in and in any relationship. Mutual love exists and it applies to many factors from family, spouse, a pet, or a friend. In most cases, it is the driving force behind many emotions allowing people to interact and create associations. A parent’s love for their child requires them to recognize their responsibilities as parents. Here, one ought to show their loved ones respect or the situation would crumble the foundation of a good relationship. Parents are often the custodian of morals and authority in the family, however, there role can be diminished by their lack of attention, over or respect. These factors are complementary and often strengthen relationships, shape marriages, and build friendships. Limitations to a good relationship come in when there is lack of mutual respect and the commitment to treat others with dignity. Parent might lose interest in each other but mot their children. When it comes to a situation where love is limited by factors such as divorce separation financial constraints, the relationship as well becomes constrained. There are cases of parents abandoning their children, leaving them to fend for themselves and survive despite being young and vulnerable. There is lack of love, dignity and respect. Such parents have treated the ones they love without respect, and have disregarded their existence thus abandoning them like animals. The crisis here is the fact that the parents have become irresponsible and have neglected their obligations. In such cases, there is a possibility of the children going astray and becoming difficult people in the future. Respect is a two-way traffic making it impossible to avoid. The manner a parent treats their children determines how they respond to them. In such a case, the children will forever have the perception in mind that parents are terrible beings and they deserve no respect. In like manner as the children are abandoned, they will not respect the actions of the parents. Consequently, there is a conflict, bitterness, and the sense of love that was previously imminent disappears. Many people find abandonment as a sign of a loss of love, when a child experiences that, they become buitter, lack respect, and have total disregard for those around them.
As a resolution to situations where respect is absent and love exists, it is necessary to create a rapport to build trust. Trust gives hope of restoring broken relationships, and thus evading an imminent crisis. Broken families can be mended if love, respect, and dignity are used to work together. This means, al the factors work together, one without the other crumbles existing relationships. According to Rumi, love is not taught by intellects, it is a feeling of gladness and kindness. Here, parents can learn to show more compassion for their loved ones despite their broken state of their affairs. People can learn to love even if the situation seems irrepearable. Kant urges the need to treat each being with respect. In situations where parents seem irresponsible and neglectful of their parental duties, the need for respect is paramount. When they decide to respect people for being who they are, the same is reciprocated and a broken family can be restores. Mutual love exists because people choose to respect each other, treat each other with dignity despite their flaws. Parents are the custodians of morality in the family unit, by teaching their children to love and treating each other with respect, relationships, friendships, and many forms of associations become bearable and long-lasting.
