Making Online Shopping Better
Introduction to the company
Warby Parker is an American based online retailer that deals with recommended glasses and sunglasses. It is located in New York City but has different retail stores across the US and Canada. The cofounders of Warby Parker Company are Neil Blumenthal, Andrew Hunt, and David Gilboa. The company has an initiative referred to as the Home-Try-On program where consumers make choices on five frames from the webpage and try them for five days free of charge. This program is consumer-friendly and has greatly impacted the company in terms of profitability. With research on making online shopping rather than in-store would promote sales in the company.
Research problem
Due to technological advancements, it would be appropriate to encourage online shopping since a substantial number of customers can access the online platform rather than the geographical location of Warby Parker in New York City. It is also easy to showcase all the products online for easy accessibility by the customers. Online shopping will also enable customers to do all their purchases in the comfort of their homes and have access to a variety of glasses.
Following previous financial statements, the company has been making minimal profits because few customers can easily access the store, unlike an online platform where customers from diverse geographical areas can easily access the platform and purchase the products. On the same breadth, new products in the market can be easily noticed on an online platform rather than in-store scenario.
Online purchases will reduce congestion and overcrowding at the store since deliveries will be done at the doorsteps and this will improve efficiency and saving of time by the company.
Reasons for proposing the internal proposal
- The proposal will help the company to seek the methods of advertisement and the creation of awareness to the public.
- The proposal will help the company to improve on the website to accommodate the new features of online shopping.
- The research will help stakeholders, investors, and partners to expand the business to be able to serve a substantial number of customers due to advanced technology which will create awareness for a huge population.
Recommendations
Data collection
Data would be collected through polls, customers’ opinions, employees take on the advancement and also the stakeholder’s response towards a shift to online shopping. As a result of coronavirus interviews, questionnaires and open-ended questions would be carried online to curb the spread of the virus. The analysis would be done on the collected data to come up with a proper way of running online shopping. The findings would greatly help the company to strategize on how to carry on with online shopping, how to advertise the products, and how deliveries of the products would be done.
Sampling design and procedure
A stratified sampling technique would be appropriate. The population involved in the research mainly comprises of the customers who are grouped according to their location. This would improve the accuracy of the research which in turn would enable the investors and stakeholders to gauge the initiative of online shopping. Taking views of people from different states across the US will greatly improve the accuracy of the research. This will in turn set the pace for the employees, stakeholders, and investors on how to establish an online shopping platform and improve on the sales of the company.
