Man Utd Make History in Aston Villa Win
Manchester United ran out 3-0 winners at Villa Park yesterday in what was a must-win clash for both sides. Goals from Bruno Fernandez (penalty), Mason Greenwood, and Paul Pogba secured the points, amid VAR controversy. But it is their moment of history that stood out the most, with United now being the only club in Premier League history to score three or more goals in 4 consecutive games.
The Red Devils currently sit fifth on the log, 1 point off the top four, and 8 points clear of Wolves in sixth. However, the win wasn’t short of controversy as Ezri Konsa was adjudged to have fouled Fernandez in the six-yard box. Yet, many football fans believe the decision was extremely harsh on the Aston Villa defender.
Mason Greenwood put in a MOTM performance, as he bagged his 16th goal in all competitions in what has been an incredible breakout season for the teenager. Alongside on-form strike duo Martial and Rashford, Greenwood led the attack with unerring precision, coming close on several instances in the first half. Jack Grealish, once again, proved the constant threat for Aston Villa throughout the first 45 minutes. But it is United who took the lead with a 27th-minute penalty before Greenwood put the game out of Villa’s reach on the stroke of half time. Pogba added a 3rd in the 58th minute to seal a huge three points for the visitors.
United are now looking to capitalize on any slip-ups from either Leicester or Chelsea, who are within touching distance above them- with four games to go.
