What insights into rational decision-making approach can you draw from this video?
Based on the video, I have learned that linear programming is the branch of mathematical programming which is designed for the provision of solutions to optimization problems in which every constraint and the objectives are expressed regarding linear functions. I have learned that the use of linear programming is highly effective in making sure that accurate decisions are made under certainty. When every option which is available to a firm is known, and the firm’s objective together with the constraints are quantified well, linear programing is capable of helping to choose the course of action which is the best out of all the possible alternatives that are capable of yielding optimal results. I have also learned that linear programming can also be employed as verification, as well as for checking mechanism to ensure that the decisions which are being made are highly accurate, as well as highly reliability (Johannes, 2016).
At the same time, I have learned that the use of linear programing can be highly effective in the optimization of allocation of various resources as well as various activities for the generation of the most profit or benefit. I have also learned that linear programming may take numerous factors into account into the thousands. It can be extensively used by various business managers, public planners, as well as economists (Agarana, Anake & Adekele, 2014).
Linear programing is a scientific approach to the provision of solutions to various problems, helps in the evaluation of every possible alternative; is beneficial in re-evaluation, helps in the making of high quality decisions besides making sure that there is maximum optimal use of the various factors of production (Mina, Yeyhameh, Maryam & Zeynab, 2013).
What would be the limitations of linear programming?
I have learned that there are some limitations of using linear programing. Linear programing is mainly linked to a linear relationship. It is worth pointing out that linear programming models are always applied successfully only in the situations in which a given problem may be represented clearly through the linear relationship between diverse decision variables. However, in practical business problems, some the objective function and constraints may not be linear.
A huge chunk of the business problems may be illustrated easily through quadratic equation instead of a linear equation. However, I have learned that linear programming fails to operate and also to offer optimal solutions in every instance (Mina, Yeyhameh, Maryam & Zeynab, 2013).
Before the application of Linear Programming tool in a given case, the values or the coefficients of the objective function, as well as the constraint equations have to be known. Also, Linear Programming assumes that the values are constant in a given time duration. In simple terms, assuming that the values were to be changed in the period of study, linear programing technique may lose its effectiveness. At the same time, it might fail to offer optimal solutions to problems which are being faced. On the contrary, it is worth pointing out that in real life situations, it is always not easy to establish the coefficients of the objective function, as well as constraints equations with confidence. Because of this, actual use of Linear Programming techniques might be restricted (Johannes, 2016).
It is also worth pointing out that there is always no conviction that a solution to linear programing problem may always be quantified like an integer. Linear programming is capable of giving fractional-varied answers that are rounded off to next integer. Some the large-scale real-life practical problems may not be solved through the use of linear programming techniques even through the help of computers because of the complex, as well as the lengthy calculations which are involved (Johannes, 2016).

Some of the key areas where linear programing can be used in the making of decisions include maximization of profits, minimization of costs and making sure that there is the best usage of the resources which are available in the organizations.

In the present era, some the firms operating in America, Australia, as well as in Europe cannot embrace the concept of Taylorism the way it used to be original. Because there has been a change in time as well as various changes when it comes to technology which has resulted in automation, some firms have not adopted the concept the theory in totality. There are some reasons as to why Taylorism has been criticized by the firms in Australia, Europe, and America. These include because it results in the exploitation of the workers, and the fact that it is a mechanical approach to management (Bell & Martin, 2012).
Consider the design of scripts for use in Call Centres, can you see Taylorism in that? Explain.
The use of the theory of Taylorism may be considered in the call centers to a certain degree. However, it should not be used completely because the operation of the call center is divided into diverse sectors which specialize in a niche. Division of labor in the call center can be done based on the employees’ field of expertise, and at the same time, the job roles may be assigned to every worker accordingly.
This ‘clip’ is showing history from 100 years ago. Some would say that ‘the world has moved on’ and these ideas are out of date. However, could there be parts of the world today for which these ideas might be just what they need? Explain.
Completely, there may certainly be some industries across the world that need the judicious use of the ideas which have been described above. Despite the fact that the foundation theory of scientific management was done several years ago, the principles that are coined through the theory have huge effects which can still be applied. For instance, the concept of the division of work, rewarding of the employees who work very hard, the introduction of very simple concepts of production are golden rules for various ventures regardless of the era in which we are (Maqbool, Zakariya & Paracha, 2011; Bell & Martin, 2012). Despite the fact that the concepts were coined several years ago when they are used correctly, they are capable of generating results for the firms.
